You mean we cant call you Corch anymore? Astro3742 left the Astros Forum for being nicknamed Eddie...I think that was the 22nd time he left of his total 78 quits.

I have no idea how many times he came and went. He would feel comfortable wearing a pink vagina hat at a liberal protest. He thinks he has been bullied if you disagree with him.

Sounds like you were conducting a poll when you announced that nearly everyone here thinks I'm dumb......Unless what I misunderstand what I read here, you are the one who seems to be considered dumb for basing nearly all opinions regarding this team on a stat sheet. Yup. Using proven facts to help support my debates makes me dumb. You got me. You win. No, your assumption that these "facts" known as stats like WAR, OPS, etc. should determine the total value of players is what makes you dumb in that regard. You disregard any facts or observations that don't support your point of view. You put no value in batting average, run production, etc. but you think WAR, OPS, etc. are infallible. Keep believing that and the rest of us will continue seeing the entire picture instead of your slanted view of it.

Sounds like a poll challenge Ok. You set up the poll. Three choices: 1. Corch is dumber than Saint..., 2. Saint is dumber than Corch..., 3. Who cares? I forget who said Keuchel should be traded for a bat

You just can't get past the idea that I use more than the ones you're comfortable with.

I don’t care which of you guys eventually wins this debate, but I would like to point out that I have seen you refer to analytic/sabermetric stats as “facts.” Those numbers are not “facts.” WAR; for example, is just a number based on a formula a guy dreamed up. WHIP; K/9; BB/9; BA...., these are facts.

Even if y'all don't like them, they are numbers being used by people that build our team and decide player value/development. Do you disagree with that assessment? Edit: Not to mention many sportswriters and voters.

i also hate the use of "dude", "bro", etc. I also hate the habit some people have of giving everyone a nickname........People have names, use them. I used to want to slug Alan Ashby for always referring to earned runs as "earnies". I celebrated when he was removed from Astros telecasts. You must love MLB Players’ Weekend.

I don’t know how that caught on. Why would anyone take the bait on a contender trading away a starting pitcher?

I don't mind Corch....it is the silly crap that I don't like. Anyone who has ever coached a racially diverse team in America should be familiar with being called Corch. i never tried to count how many times i was called Corch..by players and their parents. I eventually accepted being called a "dawg" after I found out it wasn't meant to be derogatory. I heard some of my players use the term to each other but never paid any attention to it until one day, a really good black kid was also a good player walked in and said "sup, dawg". I started to jump all over the kid until one of the white players told me he was just giving me a nice greeting.

I don't know about that. I'm trying to remember who was saying his naked photo shoot for ESPN and arm tattoos were causing him to be a bad pitcher and a classless person.

It’s in reference to a Marvel Comics character, I believe. I think the uniforms are silly, but one weekend is okay. I just hope it doesn’t become another big one of Manfred’s pointless changes that goes beyond needed. The sliding rules and his determination to put a clock in the game really annoy the crap out of me.

I said doing a nude photo shoot made him a classless person and that is exactly how it looks. I don't think I ever mentioned tattoos and neither make him a bad pitcher. He showed he is community-minded by taking the time to visit fire stations to thank first responders and others for the services they provide. I stand by what I said about the nude photo shoot.

For the record, OPS was not "dreamed up". All it is, is the sum of a player's OBP and SLG..... You may not like the value the attached to it as a number, but it is certainly not some make believe formula.

I think the rule regarding number of mound visits by the catcher are ridiculous and take away from game strategy and putting a clock in the game is ridiculous Manfred needs to leave the game alone. If there is one change I would like to see is regarding the DH. The DH should be used in both leagues or neither league. I hated it when it started, but, now I see the need for it. Supposedly, having to hit caused McCuller's current trip to the DL.

Correa's dog is named Groot. After the Marvel superhero who can only say the phrase "I am Groot". He's obviously a fan of the new Marvel movies Guardians of the Galaxy. (Which if you like fun sci-fi action movies are actually pretty entertaining. Kind of like Indiana Jones in space.)

Breaking up double plays and running over the catcher in your way are also part of the game. It’s not the fielder’s right to occupy the whole field, which includes the basepaths.

I don't like the slide rules, but, for the good of the game, they have to keep finding ways to speed up the game play some. I know it isn't what a lot of us hardcore-r fans like, but in order to keep common fans interested and coming to games, they have to do it. (Cutting back on time between innings due to commercial breaks needs to be looked at for sure. Reliever warm-up time on the game mound needs to be sped up (that's why there is a bullpen). Potentially limiting the number of relievers used in an inning should be looked at.)
All sports adapt as they age if they want to stay popular. Baseball cannot be different in that regard if it wants to stay relevant. Even a dumbed down version of baseball is still baseball, imo.
I don't like showboating, but some of the "bat flips are disrespectful" stuff needs to go away too. It's a game and should be fun. If we want youth to get into baseball, it has to stay fun. (And I hate bat flips, for the record. It's the main reason I can't stand Luis Valbuena.)

Breaking up double plays and running over the catcher in your way are also part of the game. It’s not the fielder’s right to occupy the whole field, which includes the basepaths. What I mean by adjusting sliding rules is that I think an umpire must use judgment in determining the intent of both the baserunner and the fielder. I think a baseunner has the right to try to break up a DP, but, I don't think he has the right to slide and use his spikes in a way that be interpreted an attempt to injure a fielder. You can break up a DP without using spikes to take out a fielder. I don't think a catcher has the right to block the baseline or home plate without possession of the ball. I don't like the rules that are designed to "speed up "the game because they take away from managerial strategy. There should be no limit on how many relievers can be brought into the game. The catcher should be allowed to go to the mound whenever he thinks it's necessary. I agree with Saint on bat flipping. It should not be allowed.
