Cole moves up to 14-5 and Pressly continues to be dominant. Josh gave up the HR but you still have to love his stuff out of the bullpen. I think he would be ideal coming in after softer tossing guys (Keuchel, McHugh, etc.).
Bregman now at:
30 HR 100 RBI 30 Runs 50 Doubles 10 SB
15 more walks gives him 100 on the year as well. Might be tough but he has a chance.

Yeah, embarrassing grown men is a great leadership tactic. That will definitely help control the clubhouse. He needs to do that to Reddick, though, late in games. That bat is anemic. I agree with doing it to Reddick, too. I would have pinch hit Kemp for Gattis in Gattis' last at bat. I am tired of hearing Hinch talk about looking for ways to get guys at bats. If they aren't hitting, they don't need at bats. In the heat of a pennant race with Oakland showing no signs of going away, you don't concern yourself with getting playing time or at bats for guys who aren't producing. Hinch got away by "resting" Altuve today....I agree with Saint when he said resting him as soon as he starts hitting again seemed like a mistake. Refusing to bench Correa or move him down in the order is also a mistake. As for "embarrassing a grown man", if he was doing his job like a "grown man", he would not need to be sent a message. If Correa is going to continue embarrassing the team by doing the same crap over and over and over and making no effort to make any changes, if AJ embarrasses him by pinch hitting for him, he asked for it. If he sulks about it, it shows him to be childish. Smart players know if you continue doing things in the same way when things aren't going well, you probably keep getting the same results. If Carlos can't see that he is getting himself out half the time, he's not very bright. I wish we had a count of how many times he takes two strikes, gets behind 0-2, and ends up striking out on pitches out of the zone. You would think video would confirm that for him and Hutchens. Saint, Hinch has control of the clubhouse. One way to start losing the clubhouse is to keep ignoring things like the way Correa is hitting without either benching him or moving him down in the order. I seldom found a respected coach who allowed players to continue making the same mistakes game after game without addressing the situation. |

Knoblauch had a case of the yips for sure. I remember Knoblauch, I think he played for the twins and the yankees but the guy I am thinking about played for the giants I think back in the late 70s early 80s. Point is he is too good a player to be this bad for this long. Something is wrong. Gonzo third, Bregman ss would be better than this for sure. I feel like Knoblauch was a great defender and smallball extraordinaire with the Twins and slowly sacrificed his game to be more of a power threat at leadoff with the Yankees. Eventually, his declined defense moved him from 2B to LF. Had he stayed on that same path with the Twins, I think he’d be remembered more fondly. |

I’m not here to take anyone’s side, but I will say that people have a right to say both positive and negative things. We’re not all going to sit here and sing praises about Marwin letting a gamewinner in Boston drop in front of him, Reddick pulling everything into easy outs, or Correa hitting like he belongs in Corpus Christi. Criticism here generally goes where it is warranted. I don’t believe fans are required to be positive for every occasion.
Let’s not be the Fan Police or have more tiresome stats vs. intangibles arguments.

One of the ways that message boards survive is by attracting new members. It is difficult to attract new members to post when they see people attacking each other. Now I have been guilty in the past for doing exactly that and the probability of me doing it in the future is high as well. That is why when the whole "all Muslims must be wiped from the earth" conversation came up and we talked about it after it was over I suggested that personal attacks and extremely controversial issues should be moved to another section of the board and the combatants told to move their argument over there. If we are serious about keeping this board viable then in my opinion that is what needs to be done. And in addition to that we should welcome each new arrival and encourage them to post. Look at how many people joined and never posted. As far as I am concerned if we added a new Saint, Bearbryant, or coach each week our board would be all the better for it.
