Which is why you should never be allowed to be a moderator. Using this pissant authority to "zap" someone you have a personal disagreement with makes you a punk ass, IMO. You are right about that I wouldn't have the temperament for the position. You know I have been on the Stros boards as long as you have, I get along with everyone and have had good Baseball discussions. But since this clown joined the board last season, he has had some kind of hard on towards me. I have tried to ignore him, the only area he is good in is to start fights and when he can't defend himself he goes into his retard mode and his only answer is to call someone an asshole. So I guess that makes me a "punk ASS". '
Look, you old fraud, I tried to leave the past disagreements on the old board and start over. Your response was to whine about "things" you said I called you on the old board. Then, you proceeded to stalk me all over this board making snide remarks when I responded to another poster. You jump in with those smart ass remarks and then come here and LIE by saying you tried to ignore me. You followed me around doing all you could to keep things stirred up. What is it that you think I can't defend myself about? You got bent out of shape because I disputed your comments about different types of pitches. You want to leave the impression that you are an authority on all things related to baseball and are offended when others disagree with you. You cannot stand it when people don't accept your opinion as a fact. Sorry, but most people here don't take you that seriously. Unlike you, I don't consider myself to be the sole authority. I post what I think and everyone else is free to do the same. If I agree, I may say so. If I disagree, I have the option to say that, too....and so does everyone else. You are right about one thing......the last thing this board needs is somebody like you being a moderator. This "clown" and everyone else has as much right to be on this board posting opinions as an old wannabe like you. I have had other members tell me what a "good guy" you are so you have some people fooled......I just happen not to be one of them.

I like Maldanado. Luhnow needs to sign him. I agree 100%. He is a valuable member of this team. Poor guy took a beating a few games ago (balls crashing off the mask) and now today, his forearm. I was surprised it wasn't broken. A lot of people's arms would have been broken by getting hit with a bat at that force, I would think.

I wasn't going to stay up til 3am to watch this one live, but good to see the team scratch out the win for a sweep.
Just looking at this Tigers team before the series began, it was clear they were playing above their heads a bit on both sides of ball. They continued to do that against the Astros and that's largely why the games were so close.
Pretty embarrassing to have the offense shut down on the trio of Baez (just up from AA), Reninger, and Greene. 1 hit in 4 innings. Are you kidding me?
I really thought the Astros would bust out for 10 runs this game. Halfway throw the game, 5 runs were already on the board and it looked like they had a shot. Then suddenly the Tigers pen is lights out.
Correa becoming Mr Butter Fingers was hard to watch. He better get that out of his system before the postseason starts.

One of the ways that message boards survive is by attracting new members. It is difficult to attract new members to post when they see people attacking each other. Now I have been guilty in the past for doing exactly that and the probability of me doing it in the future is high as well. That is why when the whole "all Muslims must be wiped from the earth" conversation came up and we talked about it after it was over I suggested that personal attacks and extremely controversial issues should be moved to another section of the board and the combatants told to move their argument over there. If we are serious about keeping this board viable then in my opinion that is what needs to be done. And in addition to that we should welcome each new arrival and encourage them to post. Look at how many people joined and never posted. As far as I am concerned if we added a new Saint, Bearbryant, or coach each week our board would be all the better for it. On a probably-relevant note, it looks like Jeff Sessions is angling to haul Facebook, Twitter, and maybe Google into court (or congressional hearings) over the issue of censoring views that don't fit those companies' boards of directors' ideological goals... which up until now has meant enforcing political correctness regarding certain issues of religion, sexual orientation, etc. I don't expect Proboards would attract Sessions' attention, but whatever regulatory decisions or legislation come down on the internet media giants I just mentioned, would probably affect Proboards policy through a ripple effect. Part of the argument Sessions seems likely to put forward is that internet discussion forums (at least some of them) must protect First Amendment rights as they have become a new 'town square'. That would serve as a correction to the old idea that 'they are private companies and can simply do what they want'. it will be interesting to see where this heads. It would appear that the storm is upon us.

But, if you disagree and post things liberals don't like......especially about the Clintons and Obamas.....they remove and often suspend the poster. They don't allow anti-Muslim or anti-gay remarks, but you can post all the anti-Christian stuff you choose. Anti-Muslim posts are labeled as a "hate speech". Facebook is as biased as it gets in favor of liberals.

The question becomes: At what point are websites like Facebook and Twitter so distorting (through censorship) the public's sense of reality that it effectively amounts to brainwashing? The executive order focuses on the effect that this could have on the outcome of elections. Many of the smaller tech companies like Proboards and Disqus were mainly following the lead of the internet giants like Google and Facebook in terms of their posting policies. If the government requires Google and Twitter and the other giants to respect free speech, it will probably impact the smaller sites in a positive way too. I guess we'll have to wait and see. If the internet companies that facilitate forums and discussion groups had had saner policies to begin with, probably this forum would not have experienced all the disruptions that it did a couple of months ago. At least the severity would have been mitigated. Then again, it may well turn out that these policies were designed to pit Americans against one another for the benefit of those who would like to take advantage of a self-weakened populace for their own ends.

I have a nephew who is in charge of computer security for a fortune 50 corporation. The kid is really smart and has an ability to scan a page of text and find an offending thread. It is amazing to watch actually. 30-40 years ago I could scan a column of numbers and get to the right answer in 2 to 3 seconds. My point here is that young minds have the ability to do amazing things. As we age father time and our own actions slow down these abilities. The people who write the algorithms that drive the search engines that drive information delivery are all recents graduates. So these kids who write the codes that are used by these information giants are all young, 20-30 years old. Now I do not know about you or the rest of you guys and gals reading this but when I was young I was pretty liberal. The older I get the more conservative I become. That is a transformation that the vast majority of folks go through. So really it should not be a surprise that this injustice is taking place. It should of been a predictable event but since the folks in power did not want it to change there was a willful ignorance of the cause and effect of allowing extremely young willful miscreants to run amuck. Normally I am not a proponent of governmental interference into commerce but this is a situation where a small group of folks have the ability to manipulate the world. That has to be reined in and it needs to be done quickly.

Problem is m240 is the miscreants that came from the Hippies and the Weather Underground in the 60's are the ones in charge now and they didn't change their worldview. I knew quite a few of those types many years ago. They hated America then and what it stood for and never understood what the Likes of Che and gang really stood for and how Evil they really were. How many people did the Weather Underground Kill and that was the Man in Chicago Who gave the approval for Obama!

Further to what m240 was saying, Facebook just launched a new weapon against "offensive speech" which is a computer program that can detect conservative messages hidden inside of pictures. In order to skirt the Facebook censorship software, some conservatives were making .jpg files with text imbedded in the image to get their point across. Now, Facebook can scan for that too.

it looks like the Texas Attorney General is getting involved too: Jeff Sessions ‘Exploring Potential Investigation’ of Google, Facebook, Twitter
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reportedly “exploring a potential investigation” of Big Tech social media companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google.
According to Bloomberg, Sessions will “be briefed on Sept. 25 by Republican state attorneys general who are already examining the firms’ practices,” and will “help Sessions decide if there’s a federal case to be made against companies such as Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc. for violating consumer-protection or antitrust laws.” “The Sept. 25 briefing will include the attorneys general from Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Texas,” they reported, adding that “a representative of the Justice Department’s antitrust division” will also be present.
Last month, President Trump criticized Big Tech companies for censoring conservatives and holding a political bias.
“I think that Google and Twitter and Facebook, they are really treading on very, very troubled territory and they have to be careful,” President Trump declared. “It is not fair to large portions of the population.”

I just got through saying I don't need saint backing me up, you dumbass. Just like he doesn't need me to back him up Since you two dumbasses appear to be joined at the hip, carry on. You would pucker up to anybody here as long as they disagree with me which I find laughable. And, as I told you way back there, please change your username. You using bearbryant taints the memory of one of the greatest college football coaches of all-time. You are nothing more than the forum parrot........you see something you like and repeat it. The charge of Racism has lost all sense of it's original meaning. It used to mean bigotry based on race.
Now we are told in no uncertain terms that only white people can be racist, even if other races show racial bigotry toward others because only White people have power.
I'm personally sick of being called racist just because I'm white, Sexist because I'm a hetero male, and a religious bigot because I don't dismiss my own beliefs in favor of others who are just plain wrong. There's far more of each of these outside the white male Judeo-Christian community than in it.
And I voted that way in the last election and a lot of people like me did as well.
So go ahead and scream racist all you want in situations where it doesn't apply. All you do is diminish the impact of real racism when it exists. There's an old story about a boy crying WOLF which very much applies.
Vent over.
Now let's get back to baseball.

It would appear that the storm is upon us. The "town Square" logic was first used to abrogate the basic contracts of the big three auto makers back when Ralph Nader was in his heyday. The logic was that there really wasn't a realistic alternative to getting a car outside those three which all had limitations on the customers ability to sue. Therefore, they would be unable to act in a monopolistic manor with their contracts.
I didn't particularly like that line of reasoning then, but it has now come full circle in the bid to treat the social network companies as monopolies who must regulated by government rather than by private contract.

I don’t do Facebook or Twitter, but know a lot of people who do. Not many days go by that I don’t have someone showing me something, or telling me about something, that was posted on Facebook. From what I have seen and heard it is clear to me that many people who are posting on that site don’t have much of a brain to be washed.

Amen. If a white person criticizes someone of a different race, the race card is automatically played.....it's pathetic. If a white law officer arrests someone of a different race, ti's "racial profiling" and " abuse". In other word, if whites disagree with non-whites we are racists and bigots.

Facebook started out as a venue for college kids. They required a .edu email address to register. Then they opened it up to everyone, and it basically became the AOL of the 2010s. The college kids have long since moved on. Now Facebook is filled with old people, politics trolls, and neophyte internet users.
Most of the people who have been on Facebook for an extended timeframe are only still there because it's a good way to stay in touch with distant family. I know it's the only reason I keep it.

But I will be amazed if that happens. I have said forever I can't believe the Media is complicit in all of the Left is doing. All you have to do is look at History whenever the Left takes over the first ones to be exiled or Killed in the Camps is the ones who helped them come to power. Look the German N people when it was time they Had the Night of Long Knives because the Brown Shirts were no longer needed, then it was the Old Media and the One Group of People for the Citizens to Hate. Now it's happening here with the Black Shirts and Every White Person is a Racist.

Orioles up on the A's 4-2, top of the 8th. Good. I thought it was a day game.

I trust the Orioles to close out the A’s like I did the Astros with Giles as closer.

I always liked that Mychal Givens. Got the O's out of a big jam there. Thought he'd have been a good addition to the Astros pen.
