We need White in the lineup. I tried to find a reason for giving White a day off. His OPS against lefties is well over 1.000 as a starter. His clutch stats are even better. His numbers are best batting 5th in the lineup, though in 2 ABs his rate stats are even better batting 9th.
I just can't justify keeping him on the bench unless AJ knows something we don't, like some joint or muscle is tweaked or his pet mina bird died.
He even hits better at home!

I'm guessing White being out is more of a move just to get Gattis at bats. If that is the case then find a way to sit someone else.

Seems like a bad move to bench one of your better hitters to get a guy who hasn't been hitting some at bats when you are trying to clinch a division title. Since AJ is obsessed with keeping Correa in the lineup for his defense.........and that is a good idea...at least bat him 8th or 9th. Three extra base hits in 115 at bats should not get you the 6th spot in the lineup.

Looks like the Revenge states that a couple of you were looking for isn't going to happen with this lineup.

That is two DP's that Gattis has hit into his last two at-bats.

So looky there, Hinch grand plan to sit White already paying dividends in his quest to have the Astros be the first team to go over 100 wins and hit more than 162 double plays

Roto World confirmed that it was actually his pet rock. Poor thing went fishin the other day, had a six pack in the boat, stood up to relieve himself, then he fell in and discovered that rocks can't swim.

Another typical inning from Framber "Effectively Wild" Valdez.

My guess is, Luhnow wants Gattis to get a certain number of PAs in September to see if there is any reason to put him on the postseason roster.
Devenski has shown that the answer was 'no' in his case. Evan is finding out that for guys who don't play a position, they better be hitting at least .850 OPS.

In the end, Gattis gave the Astros exactly what one would have expected from him -- two months of good baseball and four months of bad.
I think the whole Pythagoras comparison went to his head. He started fancying himself as some great mathematician and speaking Greek in his sleep.

So who starts in a 5-game ALDS for the Stros?
I'd put up Verlander - Cole - Keuchel in the first 3 games. For game 4, I'd put up Morton with a quick hook to James if Salt Man starts to falter after 80 pitches or so.
I'm not sold on the Idea that McCullers is ready to play baseball yet, much less postseason baseball. And there's not enough regular season left for him to really prove himself. I'd prefer w see him next in spring training.
