That is great, he was not listed as the starter on the fall league schedule page. Glad he got the innings in and real glad he kicked some bootie.

Now let's all hope he doesn't do something dumb between now and Spring Training......

Now let's all hope he doesn't do something dumb between now and Spring Training...... Looks like the kid was on a mission to redeem himself in the AFL. I’m betting he has matured a lot due to his suspension and the struggles he endured with the injuries that followed. I look for him to have a good ST with the Astros and then start the season at AAA. If he stays healthy, I will be surprised if he isn’t with the Astros by August.

Barring some crazy trades it seems to me that a strategy of giving several young starters experience for kind of a tandem system for 2 of the 5 starter positions. We seem to want to trade for a front line kind of guy but I doubt that we really will be willing to pay the price in terms of prospects.

I am reasonably sure we will see Whitley after the super 2 period passes and I think his innings will be limited before that time as he will be restricted to 100-110 innings next year if we have any sense at all.

Smart move putting him on the 40 man roster. A rebuilding team could easily hide him all year in the bullpen and then develope him more the next year and steal a gem.

I read over at the crawfish boxes that Whitley, Tucker, Alvarez, James, and Martin all got into the top 100. I think that Whitley was 5, Tucker 14, Alvarez 34, James 77, and Martin 78. Not sure of the accuracy of the actual numbers but that is close.

Has anyone else realized if this guy makes it big, and how much endorsement money he is going to make from Coors/Miller, Bud, etc.

How did the Brewers pass him up anyway. Hell you would have to draft him just for the name.

Not sure how he fell to us but damn I am glad. I think you will see him start to switch to playing first base this year at least part time. It would not surprise me if he finishes the season during well in AA and with the Astros in 2020 by the break. His hit and power tools are really the only ones to get excited about so a platoon of Beer and White either dhing or playing first makes a lot of sense down the road.
