I don't think hiring O'Brien was a mistake. I think he was a solid coach and had success here. The mistake was giving him too much authority and then hanging on to him too long after it became obvious that we weren't going to move further. I view him like Reddick. He was needed when we got him and had some solid initial success, but was around too long and lost his value the longer it went on. OBrien lost the team and the fans when they blew that lead to KC in the playoffs. The Texans had the game won and blew it. KC went on to win the Super Bowl. OBrien should have been fired then instead of being given GM duties, too.

McNair Sr. deserves the most blame for where the team is now. The disorder started when he was owner. He regularly yapped in the press about what moves the GM needed to make, retarding their ability to make advantageous trades while perennially mortgaging the team’s future via the draft The organization was a mess when he handed it over to McNair Jr.

Going to root now for the Cardinals, Steelers, Packers. Cardinals because JJ and Hopkins play there. Steelers and Packers because they're great football towns.

I won't be taking a vacation exactly, but I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to make sure I'm keeping up and watching every game. (And I'll definitely watch Hopkins and Watt over the Texans if given a choice.)

The guy is a no-doubt HoFer regardless of the rest of his career. But man, talk about what could have been if not for so many major injuries the last several years.

The only reason I watched the game this past Sunday was to see JJ and Hopkins. The Texans are horrible, they're even worse than the expansion team of 2002.
