FTR - I hope Astros sign Cahill to a 2 year deal with a 3rd year team option. And trade for Sonny Gray. Plus a low cost flier of Shelby Miller... Nothing above will break the bank in money or prospects. The Yankees have reportedly been asking for quite a lot for Gray. GOOD! I don't mind him taking up a roster spot on the
stankees.

A-Rod and Bregman seem jealous of the fact that NBA and NFL promote personality cults around star players to a much greater extent than MLB does.
Bregman isn't making huge money from his Astros contract yet, and he is probably impatient about waiting till FA to get the really big money, so maybe he's thinking a a personality cult is a good way to earn side streams of income.
I could easily see him working on the Commish's office after he retires from playing. He enjoys the business side of baseball and like the idea of wedding MLB with Hollywood and the pop music biz.

Bregman suggested in his A-Rod roundtable that he spends around $250,000 a year on his own physical training (I'm guessing things like personal chef, nutritionist, bodybuilding trainer, equipment, premium type health foods...). That would be around half of his Astros paycheck. If he's really spending that much money on himself, he absolutely would feel a need to generate other types of income through endorsements, maybe film deals...
I won't be surprised if he suddenly finds he has a talent for rapping and appears on some hip hop record. Wonder what Dancing with the Stars is paying him.

Don't forget, MLB complained that Trout wasn't social enough.

In seriousness, Tulowitzki surely can’t be a bad pickup, although he probably wants a starting job. Probably. But who really knows what he's thinking? Maybe he'd consider a utility role for a serious contender? On the link posted by Union on Tulo, one of the teams at the work out were the Pirates, Clint Hurdle was his manager in Colorado, they might take a chance with their shortstop position open.

I'm sure he'll have a few teams willing to give him playing time as a starter but I don't see the Pirates as being a serious contender. One of those 'maybe' kind of teams at this point. That might actually be less attractive to him than a team like the Tigers who are definitely going nowhere. If he proves himself in the first half of 2019 and a need for him emerges on a true contender, he can rest assured Al Avila would pull the trigger on a July (or earlier) deal that would put Tulo on the roster of a team with WS aspirations and bring a bit of young talent into the Tigers farm system.

I have a hard time getting past the fact that he is a little liberal turd when it comes to politics.

And to some extent, that might involve building bridges between baseball and other aspects of youth culture such as music, film, and social media. However, it would be nice if MLB could avoid associating itself with the crasser aspects of youth culture (like the NFL does with its ridiculous Super Bowl halftime shows, consisting of salacious stage acts by people pretending to be musicians).

See I'm the opposite. I'd rather things be flashier on the field and less annoying on social media/pop culture, etc. Ken Griffey, Jr. is a great example. He had fun on the field and made the game more fun. We need more of that without the social media drama and idiocy. I really liked the "Let the kids play" anthem during the playoffs. Make things fun and exciting on the field. I'm okay with more bat flipping as long as we don't get all pissy about some retribution now and then. Retribution adds more excitement too. I'm a little surprised I've gotten to this point, because I used to be staunchly against any change to the game's attitude, etc, but I think it's time to give up on some of the "Unofficial Baseball Rules of Etiquette". It's a game, not a fancy cocktail party in the cigar room of a country club. (Do country clubs have cigar rooms?) P.S. I wish there was a way to increase basestealing and small ball without restricting shifts. Also, bring back plays at the plate and rough slides at 2B.

Bregman will probably tear his hamstring dancing like a fool on DWTS. DWTS? I'd guess he'd be more likely doing cameos on the Kardashians. He’s not black. The girls are not interested.

I think most MLB contracts prohibit certain off-field activities that come with a high injury risk. So, Bregman probably wouldn't be allowed to scale Everest or go skydiving without violating his contract. I guess dancing is allowed, but somebody from the FO should counsel him to restrict himself to light dancing. Acrobatics would be a dumb idea.

I always liked players with speed who could bunt. I wish we could see more managers use the hit and run, sac bunt, suicide squeeze, and more stolen bases. I don't like the shift and wish they would allter the way it can be used. There is too much reliance on the home run. In today's game, if you have power hitters and a deep bullpen you can compete.

I can go along with Bregman's idea to post on social media short (2-5 minute) "behind the scenes" looks at what players do in the bullpen or batting cages.
What I wouldn't want to see players doing on social media is a ridiculous amount of boasting, taunting, or accusing other players.
Appearing on TV shows like sitcoms or late night comedy programs is fine as long as players don't get so caught up in their "acting career" that it distracts from the game.
Reaching out to young people to get them interested in playing and watching the game is something MLB has been doing for a long time. It's fine if they want to modernize how that is delivered. However, getting music or film stars involved in the game (which Bregman and A-Rod also suggested) needs to be considered carefully as there are a lot of Hollywood and pop music types who probably aren't worth associating with baseball.

Puig is low class and a disgrace to the game.

Here's a little something some folks might want to listen to in the background of their day.
Radio broadcast of a random game from 1980 with J.R. Richard on the mound and Alan Ashby behind the plate.

Puig is low class and a disgrace to the game. The bat licking doesn't mean anything to me; there have been tons of players that had weird rituals over the years. His attitude towards his team and lack of hustle at times would be more frustrating to me if he was on my team.
