I doubt you believe that way.....you're not that nearsighted That is exactly what I believe. Except you're going back to school, which is hard. I suspect that's because you are thinking long term. Just let the Astros do the same.

Anibal Sanchez to the Nats nobody gives a rat's ass where he goes as long as it wasn't to Houston.

Olpapa I trust your knowledge of the prospects and baseball in general, so if Indians are actually shopping Kluber for top flight prospects and the Marlins are wanting Tucker + some other prospects, which one would you advocate more for...or would do neihter? 1. Kluber for Tucker, James, Martin, Kemp, Dawson or Beer 2. Realmuto for Tucker, Stubbs 3. Do neither trade above 3 I figured that would be your answer, and rightfully so, but if it was just option 1 or 2, which one would you rather do.....or let me rephrase that if it had to be 1 or 2 which trade would you be less against.

I would think that if and I say if Lunhow pulls off J.T. Realmuto with Tucker not involved. You can still expect Reddick to be moved. And this indeed shows how much they like Tucker.
YORDAN ALVAREZ and J.B. Bukouskas But who after that? Tony Kemp? Tyler White? Max Stassi? More prospects?

That is exactly what I believe. Except you're going back to school, which is hard. I suspect that's because you are thinking long term. Just let the Astros do the same. My whole point is that you don't NOT fill a current need, just to save "prospects" or "salary space" that you might need in a year or more (and might not even be available next year, due to injury or one of a million things that can happen). That's not a difficult concept, and I can't believe you smart people don't understand it.

Shouting in all caps doesn't change the reality. When it comes to revenue stream, there's a noticeable gap between the Astros and the Top-5. btw, the Giants (who are #5) were not competitive in the past two seasons.
Try a larger type size. lol
I'll try your suggestion.
The is a difference between market size and revenue stream. One has to do with the numbers of people and the other has to do with the ability to monetize the market to produce revenue. Houston is behind on the second phase, but is catching up. Thus, Houston is changing from a mid market mentality to one of those elite 5 teams with the ability to remain competitive for the post season from year to year.
I know it's hard to believe after suffering through financially strapped ownership since Hoffeinz started going belly up and we were run under receivership and others who were merely running it as a hobby and didn't even live in the community. We're .
We've arrived!
Try harder (to recognize the sarcasm involved in my font-size remark). Yes, there's a difference between market size and revenue stream. Revenue stream is the determining factor when it comes to spending. You might like to think that the Astros are 'catching up' but their television contract which has been in effect since 2016 isn't due for renegotiation until 2032. Believe me when I tell you, television is the largest source of revenue for any and all teams.
Yes, you're not "not the rich guys major league farm system anymore". You also aren't even close to being top of the heap in terms of the ability to spend on a perennial basis compared to the big boys like the Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox. And that isn't gonna change for decades, if ever.
Note: No bold or excessive font size was necessary for my reply.

Seriously, he was a nice guy but other than that ...

If Tucker is not dealt for Realmuto, then Reddick’s days are over.

I'd like to see them get Realmuto, but not at the cost of Tucker +. He's definitely and upgrade over what we have, but as I've said before, this ain't Johnny Bench we're talking about. I do think his power numbers would go up in Houston and he's an Oklahoma kid (same as Bench, coincidentally), so maybe he'd re-sign. Still think Tucker will be worth keeping.

I am on the Tucker train. Realmuto would be nice but the 2 years scares me. He will probably chase the money and go to Boston in a few years. I also want to keep J.B.

If Tucker is not dealt for Realmuto, then Reddick’s days are over. I still think our best shot at moving Reddick would be in a trade for Greinke. Moving Reddick’s salary would help ease the hit from taking on Greinke’s contract. The D’backs are weak in CF and RF. Reddick would be an upgrade in RF and Jake would be an upgrade in CF for Arizona. Luhnow should be able to swing a deal for Greinke without trading one of our elite prospects.

Would think Cahill would have come here (fist tier WS contender) for $9M rathter than Angels. Luhnow....WTF happened? Well, it's not like Cahill is some amazing pitcher. There are still other options. True... but for $9M that's pretty reasonable for a possible solid #4 or #5 SP. Any other suggestions on who we could sign at that level of bargain?
