It would take too much to get Kluber and I think he folds up in the playoffs like a cheap suit. The more I think about the tandem starter idea the better I like it. We keep the advanced pitching prospects that we have and invest our money in getting the offense to be the very best it can be. Our team would then resemble the 17 team and last year's champion as well. That is proving to be a winning formula. I am torn, because I don't think the Astros have any OF in their farm with Tucker's ceiling, especially any in the near future. However, having an Ace like Kluber for 3 years at the tune of $52M total causes me to say maybe. The trio of Verlander-Kluber-Cole is unbelievable and should make the Astros favorites for 2019 regular season and WS. For 2020, with the Verlander and Cole being FAs, having Kluber allows the team to still have an ace and mentor. Playoffs are small samples, see how Kluber fared against the top hitting teams in the regular season. I am pretty sure that the Indians, given their need in the OF, would ask for Tucker and probably some top pitching talent not named Whitley...It is a lot to give up but I almost think it makes sense for 2019 and the next two years, especially considering that is the same window of Astros team control of all its core players together: Correa, Springer, Correa and Bregman....in the 3 years this team will have some tough decisions to make, but for now, they have a 3 year window and Kluber would help them maximize their chances. I think we can win by adding Castellanos. The dude kills lefties and balances out our outfield. Right now the cost of pitching is too high, if it drops then great we can add someone via a trade, or we can wait til the deadline and see what bubbles up. If we can swing a deal with Detroit then our offense is as good or better than the 17 crew and the pffense and Verlander won that one for us. Our pitching in 17 was middle of the road just like this year coming up.

The Astros are apparently mulling over a EE for Josh Reddick and prospect trade. Unconfirmed.
Its wild to think we would spend that much money but it could make since with no real prospects going the other way. Would move salary off the books. Save that money after this year and would be wright on track for a Realmuto Stroman trade

I keep bringing up Castellanos for the reason he plays other postions. And it is shown he has gotten better overall. Faster

I assume that was meant for me, I usually don't scroll back on earlier posts, but that makes sense. Just on MLB NOW they mentioned with the Stros missing on Cruz a good target would be "Parrot Man". Parrot man? Very curious to know who Parrot man is, lol.

It's a hypo from a Mariners writer and Heyman suggest it's a very good match. It would allow Reddick to be moved away

1 year, $14m for Cruz, with a $12m club option for 2020.

EE's hitting results have declined each year since 2014, from an OPS+ of 152 down to 115 in 2018.
Most projection systems suggest he'll hit between .800 and .816 OPS (essentially the same as the .810 he put up last year) in 2019. I suspect he'll continue to decline next year rather than match his 2018 results, but time will tell.
He is going to strike out around 23% of the time, which is well above the 18% average the team would be wise to shoot for next season.
I see the logic of this move, but its value would come mainly from adding the player that freeing up part of Reddick's salary allows, rather than from EE's perceived on-field superiority to Reddick. It's adding offense at the expense of defense so pretty much a toss-up there as far as I can tell.

Cruz > Encarnación
Not interested in them trading Reddick for a declining hitter.

Unless the Twins do much better than expected, EE will probably be available as a rental in July. If he's having a good year and the Astros are still perceived as weak at the DH position, Luhnow can always trade for EE then. I doubt it will be necessary.

Jose Martinez? I understand we all have talked about him before. Buy the question is as follows.
Would the Cards make a deal with us?
What do they need or desire?
And who are willing to give up for him?
Heyman and Rosenthal both suggest this is the Astros Target based off money.
Also note. Machado nor Harper like the Phillies and have no desire to sign with them no matter the money. Boras "Bullshit, you give my guy the moon he will be there with a smile" lmao The part about Boras I made up. But the other is 100% true according to Heyman and Morsi

If the above is true about the Phillies could this be a spot to dump off Reddick?

But there is no guarantee that trout will leave the Angel's. So I think the thought would be see if they want Reddick with a prospect?

What about Josh Reddick and Christian Javier to the Phillies for Nick Williams
Hear me out. We could then package William's to the Marlins for J.T.
The Astros could then go for J.T. Realmuto with a Package of Nick William's, Yordan Alvarez, J.B. Bukouskas and another prospect.
I think this would be a direction to think about

Nelson Cruz to the Twins for two years option on last Luhnow must still be sitting on his ass. Not signing Cruz is a mistake. We need offense and pitching......As of now, Luhnow basically has done NOTHING to address these needs..........time for Luhnow to stop scratching his ass and do his job.

The eagerness in trading Reddick tells me he’s not sitting on his ass and is out for a bigger move.
