Now that Grandal has signed I think a deal for Realmuto will be done in the next week or so. No way do I see Luhnow trading Whitley or Tucker for him. He might send Alvarez to the Marlins in a deal for Realmuto. Alvarez is the #42 ranked prospect by MLB.com and #9 rated OF prospect. San Diego clearly has the prospects to beat a deal highlighted by Alvarez. Their top 5 prospects are all ranked higher than Alvarez. Why would they trade for Realmuto though? They have Francisco Mejia, the #2 ranked catcher prospect, who is ML ready now. The Dodgers have the prospects to get a deal done, but they have reportedly refused to include either Verdugo or Ruiz, their #1 and #2 prospects, in a deal for Realmuto. Their #3 prospect is ranked #71 by MLB.com...well below Alvarez. It has been rumored that the Marlins would like to get a catcher with some ML experience as a part of the return for Realmuto. If Luhnow has offered Alvarez, another prospect in our top 15 and Stassi, he may very well get Realmuto, if the Dodgers don’t change their mind and decide to send Verdugo or Ruiz to the Marlins in a trade for JTR. I think the Dodgers give in and get him. I think they also decide to go all in and get Harper. I think Harper ends up with the Phillies or going back to the Nats. The Dodgers may up the ante for Realmuto. This morning, MLB network mentioned the top 5 who were still strongly in on Realmuto.,..the Astros were not one of them. They were listed as not being out, which can translate into Luhnow is keeping up with other offers and deciding whether to increase our offer.

Luhnow's willing to give up Tucker AND Bukauskus? wth? I hope not. I don't think that happens. l don't believe Luhnow will deal Tucker.

I would not risk making Cole, Correa, Osuna, or McCullers angry over an arbitration dispute. Give them basically what they want, especially Cole. Don't budge an inch on Harris or Devenski

Kind of weird timing. Did he hurt it patting himself on the back? I love you, and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

There's a tweet going around that the Dodgers are trading for Russell Martin from the Jays. If that's the extent of their solution for C then it would seem Realmuto's market just got a lot smaller. breathe thomasj13

Meh. The Lowrie signing has nothing to do with any of that. And Cruz wasn't going to be some big difference maker. He's a good hitter but at his age and lack of any defensive utility, he wasn't going to make us that much better (if at all) when we can use the DH spot to give our other players days off. Cruz was not going to play any defense.......just DH, which is probably why we backed off. We wanted a guy who could do both and I understand that. To add on to what you are saying I think they where stuck at 10m ish and no higher. They didnt wanna be hand cuffed to DH only. Plus Cruz went for the money almost everyone says that

I wonder what the Giants would want for Bumgarner. Facing a rotation of Verlander, Cole and Bumgarner would be scary. I'm thinking the Giants would want a fairly premium haul for him. New management, iconic player. Can't afford to undersell on him. Plus I believe he's still fairly cheap.

I think Alvarez, Stassi and Solomon might do it. That gives them a top and middle prospect and a replacement at catcher with MLB experience.
I'm not sure I would do this deal, but I think it could get done with that.
I would prefer using an extra part like Kemp/Fisher/Reed but they have to get a high prospect in the deal.

I don’t know whether to think that LA obtaining Russell Martin will make a Dodgers trade for Realmuto less likely or more likely. One of the rumors I have read says that the Marlins want a catcher with ML experience as part of the return for JT. Before they added Martin the Dodgers didn’t really have a catcher with ML experience to add to a deal. Now they could trade either Martin or Barnes as part of a deal with Miami. On the other hand, they may have decided to drop out of the running for Realmuto and go with Martin and Barnes this season.

Alvaraz, Bokuskas, Stassi and Valdez get it done if it will, we need to get it done. Having Realmuto could help us re-sign some pitchers plus help FA pitchers to decide to come to Houston.

The Dodgers could turn around and ship Martin in a deal for Realmuto. One thing I think we can count on..........Realmuto will be traded to somebody soon.
