I had a great day today. I got to have coffee and talk Astros baseball with olpapa. He is a great man. It is nice to talk to someone from here in person. I enjoyed the visit too. I’m looking at the picture of Hunter and Springer that you are using for your avatar and thinking about the recent picture of Hunter that you showed to me this morning. Hunter has really grown a lot taller in the last year and a half.

Saw this in an mlbtr chat today: "Trade me 3:52 Why not Reddick to Braves for Teheran? Both have needs and salary is about the same. Thoughts? Steve Adams 3:53 I doubt the Astros really want Julio Teheran. He's not that good."While under certain circumstances I wouldn't mind seeing Reddick go to the Braves, I wouldn't want Teheran fouling up the pitching staff. Would rather see someone like Kyle Muller (.966 WHIP and only 1.9 BB/9 in AA last year, Dallas Jesuit grad, 21 yrs old, LHP, more likely a starter than a reliever) come back to the Astros. The only MLB players they have who would substantially improve the Astros are Freeman and Folty, and I just don't see either of those guys coming to Houston in a trade. So if a Reddick trade goes down with Atlanta, it's probably for minor leaguers. You have my support.

The only risk with Muller playing in Round Rock would be that he probably grew up a Rangers fan, so it would take Bregman shaming him on Twitter to finally straighten him out.

Some have suggested that if Keuchel can't find anyone to meet his price, he might like to do a one-year deal with the Astros so that the QO penalty would no longer be attached to him as a FA at the end of the 2019 season.
I'd like that idea a lot, as Keuchel would be highly motivated (think 2018 Tony Sipp) to pitch his best and show he deserves ~20 million/year on that post-Astros FA contract.
Keuchel would have to know that should he repeat his 2016 season, he would be little more than a hum-drum veteran SP candidate in 2020. His sense of self-preservation would prevent him from doing that.

Bregman at the dr's office
It would have been interesting if Reddick had been this open about his situation last summer.

Well I used to think Ken Giles was the most mentally unstable closer in the game. Looks like Wetteland has now taken the crown though.
Can a fairly wealthy retired athlete find it so hard to get an attractive adult woman to date him, that he feels he has to go abusing children? I've never understood what's going on in these people's minds.

I think Phillies get Harper, Keuchal and Krimbal. They wanna spend money there u go. I also like Reddick for Tehran Teheran's FIP and xFIP over the past two seasons have been in the range of the 4.70s to 4.90s. It seems to me he's beaten the odds and gotten a little lucky to keep his ERA in the 4.20ish range over that time. Teheran gives up quite a lot of fly balls and saw a significant spike in his Hard Contact rate last year. To me that is a recipe for disaster at MMP. Teheran's sinker is his best pitch but as Fangraphs pointed out recently, it's really hard to survive as a SP if you're relying primarily on a sinker. fantasy.fangraphs.com/pitch-type-performance-2018-summary/ Overall, I just don't see Teheran as an improvement over what the Astros' AAA corps of Armenteros/Deetz/Valdez/Perez/Rodgers can provide. Strom is great but he has to have something to work with, as Mike Fiers showed.

Funny parts of Bregman's recovery video:
4:30 - He hasn't bathed since the operation and Jeremiah Randall says he smells like an onion. Wonder whether that will slow the ladies down from trying to be his pal?
12:20 - Bregman is concerned about whether it's safe for him to play video games while recovering. A young man has to have priorities, right? Jeremiah insists it will actually help him.
15:20 - Is that Bregman's mommy at the doctor's office? I guess he was still seeing a pediatrician only 10 years ago. Maybe. --> The answer is revealed at 22:15
19:00 - Bregman is having a leg massage tonight and is concerned about what she can and cannot do. Hmmm
22:30 - Bregs is out of pain pills. Don't go get hooked on the oxycontin buddy!
I can't think of another athlete who has granted this kind of access to an injury and recovery process. It demystifies a lot of things for fans.

By all means Phillies go for it. At this point, Keuchel is the only one I'd want to sign. That is only because my concern for our starting rotation moving forward.

I'd prefer that to resigning Keuchel. I have no problem with Keuchel and I think he is a good pitcher, but I just don't want him for what he is commanding in FA.

I'd like Keuchel, but not at 5 year 20M/yr. Perhaps 3 years at $50M which would be about $16.67M/yr. Perhaps A $2M signing bonus and $16M/yr with team or mutual options for another 2. That way Keuchel saves face by getting his 5 yr deal and the Astros get protection and flexibility to sign others.
But that's definitely my upper limit.

Sounds like you gave up first, which would mean defeat. I've been banned multiple times before. I have no fear. That being said, I'll agree to a tie.

I just learned that the KC QB Mahomes is the son of Pat Mahomes the MLB pitcher. He was pretty much garbage, but he managed to have an 11-year career and a winning record. Interesting.

I've never understood what's going on in these people's minds. It's a mental illness just like depression, schizophrenia or bipolar disease. He can't control the thoughts. He should be able to control the ACTIONS, though. There are millions of pedophiles in the world who never lay a hand on a child.

And, unfortunately, parents seem to be letting younger and younger girls dress more provocatively and adult. Hell, I tried to get my 4 year old daughter some gym clothes for when she's running around outside and the shorts labelled for 5 year olds barely covers the ass....and my daughter is small for a 4 year old!
