Wow, so far the best official offer Machado has gotten is only 7-years $175 million from the White Sox. I mean, I wouldn't pay him more than that but it's still surprising. I can't imagine the Yankees wouldn't offer at least $200 million. I’d do it maybe if he played 3B. Astros have no need for him unless Correa sneezes too hard and is out for four months. I hope Daniella has some good sneeze remedies on hand.

I apologize for being harsh about Correa. I hope he stays healthy this season, but the more he gets hurt, the more he’s overshadowed by Bregman and the more he seems expendable. When We Dem Boyz agrees with you, you have to realize how wrong you are.

He missed a lot of games that year by making an ill-advised attempt to score from third on a ground ball in a game in Atlanta. The fact that we had a 7-8 run lead at the time and didn't need the run made it worse. I loved his hustle, but, there is a difference in hustle and being reckless and foolish. Last year, he missed half the season with a mysterious back issue and was never the same. He is at the point where he needs to prove he can stay healthy before being offered a long contract extension at top dollar. The Correa we saw for most of 2017 was well worth a big contract.....the one we saw in 2018 not so much. I still think he has a lot of nerve asking for a $4 million pay increase after the season he turned in.

I like Correa and think/hope he has a great 2019 season. I think he is the best overall player on the team if he uses all his potential.
The problem is that he can't seem to stay healthy consistently. Even going all the way back to the minors. He has only ever played more than 120 games in a season once...
Granted he is still very young, but it is a little concerning.

Then 2020 hes here Injured again. When does his value start dropping and when do you finally day trade him?

Well I think another year is still too early to give up on him, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan. And if a deal like that got a guy like Machado, it should at least be considered.

I still think he'll make 200+ but doesn't sound like he'll make much more than that... On the other hand I think Bryce will get CRAZY money. You only get crazy money when there's someone crazy enough to ask for it and also someone crazy enough to pay it. But George is gone now. It's the second half that's been harder to find lately.

I think you're reading waaaaay too much into the back injury and jumping to some pretty unfair conclusions about his toughness. If he has a back issue, just playing would have been tough, much less at even the level he played at.

I realize that back issues can cause a lot of pain......my brother in law and nephew both have back problems. I just wonder why the Astros seemed to be so secretive about what caused Correa's back issues. Nothing would make me happier than for him to never have more back problems and to perform the way we all know he is capable.

On the other hand I think Bryce will get CRAZY money. I think Harper gets $330 for 10 years. Enough to say it's the current biggest contract. And if does happen, I predict it will be the worst signing since the Angels/Pujols event.

This is wierd
IB BARKSDALE @incarceratedbob
Phillies reps feel like they are in lead as of now (not done), but they fear Astros more than anyone else for some reason.. even more than Dodgers/Yankees/Nats
Jr@Gilbert15251853
Replying to @incarceratedbob
Astros are going to get him watch

So I'll explain it to Hester of my knowledge. If and I mean if Harper comes to the Astros. (Supposedly Bryce has an infatuation with playing for Houston) There would be a much bigger deal in the works to go along with it to make sure the Astros would still have the money for Verlander and Cole. Or atleast one of them. Example some kind of Kyle Tucker Josh Reddick combo to get Realmuto. And ship Yuli, Harris or Devenski and Marisnick to save some cash. Again idk how true it is. Also Adam Ottavino is on the Radar but he might be impatient and sign some where else. I have no clue on the SP front.theres like no news. Just floater names. Lugo, Stroman and a wild card I heard Miley

Could very well be with Harper.

There is so much disinformation put out there to drive up the price and create a sense of urgency that all "reports" are suspect.
It's not any different than our current political and spiritual machinations. The obvious truths gets lost among the trash.

The schedule this April looks like it will be a little easier on the Astros in terms of cold weather than it has been recently.
I only see 5 games in NY and Seattle April 8-14 that look like risks for cold weather.
McHugh mentioned in his podcast that the cold was kind of tough on some members of the team.

I just don't see it happening. Let your competition overpay. If this was Trout? Hell Yeah. But check Harper's stats. They aren't in the same league.
