Whatever wacky trade proposals you think you might have read on this forum, twitter takes the cake:

Now that Gattis is gone, Straily figures it's safe to return
I seem to recall he was no-hitting the Stros up to that point too.

Pretty far from the blockbusters we wanted.

Maybe it's the effect of Common Core math on the young workforce. Not enough of the cashiers can calculate the correct change on a $6.70 if you hand then a $10 bill. But they can swipe a card. Sadly that is a realistic possibility.

Sadly that is a realistic possibility. It is sad that students are graduating today completely dependent on a machine to do their thinking for them. Mathematical dexterity has been lost because kids are allowed to be dependent on machines just because THEY are modern and have no need of old school skill sets.
I'd be ashamed if I needed a calculator to tell me that change for a purchase of $6.70 when handed a $10 bill was $3.30. Now I can see an advantage of having a register or calculator assist with calculating a fractional tax rate like 6 3/8%. I was lucky to only have to deal with 5% and could easily calculate that in my head much faster than entering the key strokes.

Quite an honor for the Astros to claim 2 of the players on MLB's All-Prospect Team for 2019.

Hey there everyone it's been awhile like years since I posted in old MLB astros forum. Today I just found out there is no message board. I found this and just registered I remember some names here. I had many posts but mostly read the users messages which I always appreciated and learned from too. Well introducing myself again I believe this was my old user name if not then it might have been pico either way i was member for a long time. I found it thru reddit and some of the old members were there and referred this site. Thanks for tyring to get it going again.

From MLBTR:
“There haven’t been any extension talks between Justin Verlander and the Astros front office, the right-hander told reporters, including MLBcom’s Brian McTaggart (Twitter and video link). “I don’t know what their organizational plans are. It’s something I wouldn’t be opposed to….we’ll see what happens,” Verlander said.”
Good to hear that JV would not be opposed to an extension with the Astros.

If he is open to signing an extension, they need to start trying to get it done.

They may both resign with Houston. At this point they might not get the contracts they want in FA, so it might make most sense to come back to a team they know and teammates they are comfortable with.

I actually believe this is where the Astros start to lose if they bring back marwin and Keuchal. WHY? Because instead of evaluating them on talent level the owner is evaluating them on the fact he likes them as friends. As people he likes.
And once you do something like that you make stupid contracts happen.
If they resign either for more then 2yrs and 15m per you cant certainly say bye bye to Verlander Cole and one of the big four.

My take on that is we WILL trade for a starter. Not a catcher.

But we already have Marwin's replacement... I'm with you abregmanfan - I don't see the point in bringing Marwin back. However, I am at a point where i'd be ok brining Keuchel back on a 1-2 year deal since our SP is thin this year with McCullers being out for the year and Morton gone.
