Gattis had a better season than Beltran by far... I never said Beltrán was awesome last year. My point is look how well they did with Beltran and his 81 OPS+ as a DH in 2017. When they went with Gattis they weren't expecting us needing to be carried by a DH, and they still got a productive season from him. They're still not expecting us needing to be carried about a DH. If we get further improvement at DH with White (which seems realistic) for a very minimal cost, why would they go after a DH free agent?

Beltran's main contibution was not as a DH,but, leadership in the clubhouse. I hope White proves to be able to handle the regular DH job........I am just not willing to start next season with him as the primary option.,\

I wouldn't be against that especially if we lose Keuchel.

I’m a little iffy on Eovaldi. I actually slightly prefer Richards despite the injuries.

Cleveland can go to hell. That’s our boy. We are going to have to PAY Marwin in order to keep him.....Plenty of teams want a player like him. I think we can keep him due to Altuve, Correa, etc. but Crane is going to have to pay him. He is worth much more than Keuchel. If Cleveland wants Keuchel, they are welcome to him. Go after Eovaldi and see what happens. I think we can get him.

Remember a couple months ago you basically wanted Marwin off the team....so before you go clamoring for him, remember how you felt about him not too long ago.... and on Keuchel, I am only for a QO deal, I am opposed to the Astros signing him to a 4-5 year deal..but I can pretty much guarantee, if the Astros offer him a QO and he declines/signs elsewhere...and he pitches well this upcoming season or next, and one of our respective pitchers is having a bad stretch, you will be saying how foolish the Astros were not offer him a long term deal...

He is a switch hitter who hits with power from both sides of the plate. He allows us to carry an extra pitcher if we choose instead of another bench player. This "above average" healthy starting pitcher stayed off the DL for a change, I wonder if the fact this was his free agent year had anything to do with that. Keuchel has a tendency of digging us a hole to climb out of in too many of his starts. Sometime we did......sometimesl he lost the game before being pulled. I would definitely pay Marwin more than Keuchel without hesitation.

I will also remain consistent..........I want to keep him until we know we have a better option. Defensive outfielders like Jake don't grow on trees. I think Astros players agree with me.

Yes, I wanted Marwin gone before the all-star break.......he was doing nothing. Since then, he looks more like he did last season. I want him to stay......I'll hold the door open for Keuchel.

Keuchel will be much easier to replace in the rotation than Marwin would be at what he does., Keuchel is a soft-tossing control pitcher who needs an umpire to give him the low strike and both corners. When he is forced to come in the zone, he gets hammered. We have guys to replace him.......McHugh, Peacock, Valdez, James, or maybe Whitley. Also, I won't be surprised if sign a free agent starter or trade for one. In any case, Keuchel will want a lot more than he is worth...........Boras will see to it.
