It’s too soon to trade Marisnick. Strom is still working on him. If Strom can teach Jake how to throw a cutter, that might be a future. I am sure he could hit the mid 90's from the mound. If the Mets can take DeGrom from SS and put him on the mound, it might not be too late for Jake.

Seen a pretty cool rumor. Doubtful but would be interesting Miguel Cabrera, Nick Castellanos and Micheal Fulmer plus some cash on Cabreras deal on years 2021 threw 2023 his vasting options would be declined some where around 60 million paid over 3yrs For Yuli Gurriel, Josh Reddick, J.B. Bukouskas, Yordan Alveraz and Tony Kemp. It was on the trade talk board for Bleacher report. Alot of reaction to it. I would like it and hate it at the same time. Due to Cabreras contract on 2019 and 2020 Is that a rumor or some fan posting hypotheticals? Big difference. “It was on the trade talk board for Bleacher report. Alot of reaction to it.” Any questions?

O/U - A team signing Keuchel to a 3Y/50M contract? U That's slightly above my 3/$45M valuation so if it's a straight contract I'd agree with under. However; I think he's more likely to get a one year with options for additional year(s) which could put him over only if he meets certain incentives. I think this is the future of long term contracts which will soon apply to any contract over 3 years and some for less.

What is the State of the Astros?
We have accomplished much my friends. The offense is second to none. There are better individuals out there but this is a collection which is above average at all positions and well above average at most. It would be unreasonable not to expect injuries, but the depth we have on the bench and in the pipeline are extraordinary considering that most cases involve choosing either a competitive club or having a strong prospect pipeline.
Now here's the rub. How do we keep the pipeline ranks motivated with prospects ready to come to the majors while we're competing in the majors for the World Series? It's hard to give the youngsters a legitimate shot on this club. If we split this squad, I thing we could turn it into two winning ball clubs. But that means as a single club, some very good players aren't playing regularly.
In the mean time, we have fans who are either ignorant of our wealth of talent or are stuck in the past when the only hope to win was to deplete the prospect pipeline for a chance to even get to the playoffs for a single season. They are used to going all in for a single year because that was the only way to sniff the playoffs.
We are on the verge of dynasty. Let's not blow it by living in the past and making stupid trades of ascending players for those who have seen their best days in the rear view mirror.

Kemp is not sticking on the mlb club so he has to be traded or cut, my guess he is traded for a Davis light type of prospect package. Reed as well unless he comes in looking like a mma fighter instead of a sumo wrestler.

Yordan Alveraz is being put in the Tucker Whitley Category.
According to Heyman Houston is planning on moving him to 1B to replace Yuli as soon as midseason this year or start of next year

He has the power offensively and the size defensively to make a good 1B. Now if that is the plan, I'd like to see a concerted effort to teach him the nuances of the position and play him there in Fresno.
I'd ask Bagwell to take him under his wing to teach him how to play defensively, but NOT mess with his stance in the batter's box.
I love a big target at 1B as long as he has good athleticism and decision making as well.

They're talking rule changes again. If they benefit NY teams and former NY teams, they have a good chance of immediate implementation. If not, they'll talk it to death.

If I may don my OMB tin foil hat, after what I saw in the NFC Championship, (and AFC for that mater) I think there is an inherent E-W Coastal bias being introduced for $ reasons (All major sports) You are right Marshall..... If it suits the ESPN/ CBS/FOX cartel , and their omnibus agenda around the TV $........

Putting a premium on your blue chips in trade discussions is one thing. Backing it up with rumors of promotion gives the front office credibility in future trade discussions as long as the prospect can back it up if given the opportunity If all this comes to pass and Yordan struggles, he'll probly be given the Tyler treatment in AAA for a while

And I still think the Astros need to sign Derek Dietrich. If your gonna move on from a Tony Kemp because of his short comings from the oF. Then a very versital player would be ideal. Reddick to the Giants or Ray's would be his best spots. I also think keuchal to the Blue Jays, Reds, Braves or Phillies . Marwin to the Braves, Red Sox, Phillies or Reds. Gattis would be perfect for the Rays. Maldonado Rays I used to like Maldonado until he forgot how to catch a baseball. Chokey McMartin

It's one of those hypos. The insider guys like mish Rosenthal Heyman and such all comment on it. Kinda give the yes or no and a wright up of why. It's very hard to submit stuff to there I'm sure millions of people write in to it. It's worse then the mlbtraderumors open chat.

Another day, another Realmuto rumor. It's getting pretty obvious that 2 years of Realmuto won't bring an overall top 20 prospect that Jeter is DEMANDING. That's OK. I'm liking the pieces required to make that deal better than Realmuto at this point. Alvarez at 1B when Gurriel declines and Tucker in RF when Reddick declines with Stassi and Stubbs behind the plate in 2020 is sounding like a low cost-high reward plan for resigning at least one, if not both of Verlander and Cole. That along with finding out which of the pitching prospects will take the bull by the horns sounds like a renewable plan for dynasty.

From MLBTR: “Frisaro notes that the Miami organization would like to wrap up a deal with one of the remaining suitors before the club holds its annual FanFest event this Saturday.” One can only hope that this is true. I’ve heard more than enough of Realmuto, Harper and Machado speculation. Ready for some baseball.

I loved Berkman. He was a great ballplayer. If he had stayed healthy he could have fulfilled his hall-of-fame level talent. But he didn't do it long enough, or stay healthy enough. I don't think Edgar belonged in the hall either, but I don't think that was Lance's point. His point was that a guy eventually got in (who doesn't belong there) whose numbers were very similar to a guy who was bounced on the first ballot. He's pointing out a regional bias in the selection process, or ignorance, or just plain stupidity by the selectors. I agree.

I guess Harper and Manny were not enough for the fan base to handle. Can also add Dallas:)

Jeff Lunhow has said he wants Verlander to retire a Astro.
The ball is in Verlanders court on money. I hope Justin understands we need to have money to win aswell.
Would be awesome if we signed him on a 10m per for how ever long and every year his salary starts over and has incentives
