Stroman is saying the Blue Jays haven't offered him an extension yet, so maybe if July rolls around and the Astros are still looking like they need a MOR piece, Stroman would be an option. Greinke, Stroman, deGrom, MadBum, Godley might be some of the SPs to shoot for in July. The Mets just signed DeGrom to an extension, it looks like the Mets are in as usual in the beginning of the season. But this year they look serious. LOL Are you sure the Mets signed DeGrom to an extension? |

Maybe Talshill would like to venture a doctor's opinion, but Bregman's swing is looking good to me as he comes off the forearm surgery. IIRC he had chips/debris removed. Usually pretty minor. Would probably affect his throwing more than hitting. |

Stroman is projected by Steamer and others to throw 170+ innings this season. That sounds a little high to me but even if the Astros just get 130 IP from him, that would basically solve their immediate pitching needs and allow Luhnow to pencil in a starter for the 2020 season as well.
The idea of the Gurriel brothers playing together would sound cute to a lot of fans. Stroman's name would give the Astros some interesting marketing options.
I can sympathize with the Toronto fans who want to see Vlad Jr up ASAP, but if the Jays decide to keep him in AAA to squeeze another year of service out of him, Yuli would make a fine 3B for that team in the first half of the season.
Also, Yuli would boost Toronto's DH production a lot insofar as Kendrys Morales (current Jays projected DH) only hits righties well. Whereas Yuli does much better against lefties. They complement each other well. Jays could have Yuli at DH in games vs LH SP and at 3B vs RH SP.

If they don't seek to extend him, Grichuk would be an upgrade over Reddick in RF and he might like to return to the Houston area.

Yuli for him straight up would be a far deal aswell. Reddick would be perfect in San Francisco. |

I'd say this if the Astros heals on to Tucker they better start him in RF.
And if he does well over spring training then Reddick needs to go ahead and fly like an Eagle outta Hoiston before the Season Starts.
I like the recent article I seen about Marisnick.
Stating the Astros keep waiting for him to make the next step but he never does. Kinda think he is gonna be traded if a injury happens.
Let's go Straw show them you can handle the reins. And Realmuto de this pony all the way to the OD roster

One thing I really like about Grichuk is that his batted ball profile is a good fit for MMP. He tends to drive a lot of deep fly balls to LF and that is a good recipe for Crawford Box HRs.
Over 21 PAs at Minute Maid, Grichuk has had 7 hits, including 1 HR, 1 triple, and 3 doubles... that comes out to a 1.048 OPS over admittedly a very small sample size.
Grichuk has also hit well at Yankee Stadium (likely a place the 2019 Astros will have to succeed in the postseason), with an .896 OPS over 39 PAs.
I don't like his K rate but somehow he manages to get the job done in the aggregate.

Any team hie signs with that will extend him at $40M/year will get him. Read what he's saying, but don't forget what he's not saying. Any extension is a separate agreement. The only effect that counts is if they can finalize an agreement before they make the trade. Most teams will not permit this.
All you can count on is getting his existing contract. Everything ele is like any other FA speculation which always boils down to money. How much for how long? And they usually go to the highest bidder.
