After looking over the Diamondbacks roster and their prospect depth my guess is an offer of White, Ferrell, and Dawson could net us Goldschmidt. If it would, I hope they are smart enough to make the trade.

We need someone, I don't know that it needs to be Morton. So, what's your issue with Morton? He putperformed Keuchel, whom you've spent the past 3 weeks hyping. Seriously, did Ghick take over your account? I am still trying to understand his love affair with Keuchel.......Morton has had the best years of his career with us and, if healthy, would be well worth $18 million this year with an option for 2020. Saint can't be objective where Keuchel is concerned. Weird.

Could we see Is it possible we see Paul Goldschmidt to the Astros for Tyler White and Tony Kemp? That would result in the public hanging of AZ''s GM. Those two packaged might get his jock strap here. Let's wait till 2020, and sign him outright. Explain why? Both have loads of talent and control. No faith in there value for a rental

Why would you want to trade 5 years of an 800 hitter plus a couple of guys who could be good for 1 year of a 900 hitter? Two reasons; 1. Because White is not a good fielder and so his overall value is diminished 2. I firmly believe that once Goldschmidt gets here he will enjoy himself and want to stay. Two more reasons; 1. I really want another World Series trophy and next year is our best chance for a couple more years 2. I place very little value on Ferrell and Dawson. Honestly White and Kemp are our two hottest commodities. Both have xp on a Champuonship club. Both hit fairly well and both have loads of control. There value is atleast of a fringe top prospect. To add if White played 1B only all year and Kemp got an everyday roll they could be much better in the long run. But to get a rental you shouldn't have to give up that much regardless of who it is

And a trade for James Paxton Could look like this Astros receive: LHP James Paxton Mariners receive: RHP Josh James, RHP Rogelio Armenteros, C Garrett Stubbs, 3B Abraham Toro
I would try and swap Josh James out for Framber Valdez

I hope Luhnow never considers it.

I am very glad you have no say in these matters. At this point, I would not trade James,Armenteros, of Stubbs straight up for Paxton.

As you presented it here it appears to be your idea. My opinion is that Seattle values Paxton too highly and that is one reason why they went ahead and made the offer to Morton.

One of the reasons very few trades happen until after the GM meetings is that no one starts trade proposals out with what they actually will settle for. Time reduces sellers asking prices and usually raises buyers offers.

Interesting read in mlbtraderumors where the fans were polled to predict which player would sign where with the top 10 free agents. The Astros were predicted to sign Keuchel at a higher clip than any other club and had 16%+ with the Angels second with 13%+.

Forget Paxton:
“The Yankees have struck a deal to acquire lefty James Paxton from the Mariners, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link). Top pitching prospect Justus Sheffield is among the three players coming to Seattle in return, per Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times (Twitter link)”

When he spends half the season on the DL, I'm going to laugh......not at Paxton, but, at the Yankees for making the deal. I can't wait to see what the Mariners do with Cano and some other veterans.

I sure am glad we didnt have to pay that package for Paxton woot. They would have been dumb to pass on that trade. I guess once they got burnt for Cole last year they finally came off there prospects are better then everyone faze.
Anyways signs are pointing to the trade season has kicked off and GMs across the board are chomping at the bit. PAXTON trade has opened the door that you will pay.

Rumor was J.B. is who they offered but Ms said no.
Also alot of Scouts are reporting that Jestus might have to develope more and could essentially move to the bullpen due to his inconsistency to stay in the Strike Zone.
Seems the Yankees valued him way higher then most all GMs out there except..... The Mariners....
