Thank you Detroit in understanding it was time for you to rebuild....may the prospects the Astros sent you fo well for you, especially against other AL teams not named the Astros.

I literally love everyone who's signed a contract extension

Not knowing the logistics of MLB contracts, with extensions how much of the middle man profit AKA agents lose out on the deal. That's an excellent question and the answer goes a long way to explaining why some agents are very hesitant in having their clients sign extensions rather than going to free agency and cashing in on a possible bidding war. The loss an agent suffers due to an extension is proportional to the amount left on the table by the player. They get the same percentage whether it's an extension or a free agent contract. So obviously they'd benefit more by getting their slice from a larger pie. Thank to Marshall and your input, I figured some way the agent has to lose something with an extension. Which most likely would be a carry over with some of the perks.

When we try to extend Cole, he will remember the nitpicking we did in arbitration this winter. If you want to extend him, keep him happy. Springer needs to be extended now. George has done enough to deserve it. Maybe if he popped off and ran his mouth like Bregman, he'd get his money. Remember Coach, it takes two to tango. The Astros have tried to lock up Springer on two separate occasions. The first time that they tried to lock him up was when he was a rookie and instead of getting both Springer and Singleton locked up, they were only able to lock up Singleton and then his deal went up in a puff of smoke. The second time was last year when he signed the two year deal for two of his arbitration years. I am not saying that he would not extend, it just does not look very good to do so now and not because the Astros do not want to.

I’m glad JV has two more years here no matter the cost. Guys like him are diamonds in the rough. Nothing rough about Mr. Smooth. He's already in a flashy setting and looking good.

Springer and the FO need to get together and see if we can get an extension done and we need to make a good offer. I am glad we extended Bregman but George needs to be rewarded.

George has done enough to deserve it. Maybe if he popped off and ran his mouth like Bregman, he'd get his money. He ( Springer) might get a similar deal since he's we're only buying out one arbitration year. 5 yr./$105M:
yr1 $8.25M (75% of $11M) yr2-5 $24.375M (75% of $32.5M) $105,750.
Of course he hurt his value last year. He might have gotten more the first two times he was approached before his 2.1 WAR last season.
The best time to extend or go into FA is after back to back good seasons.
I'd love to see Cole extended, but we.re running out of cap space in the out years. I don't think it's any coincidence that Verlanders contract ends the year of Correa's last Arbitration year. It will likely come down to a hard choice between players we'd like to keep.
It's a sad fact that we can't pay every player what he's worth on the FA market. But it's because we have a great team, so the reason is good. It's also why we have to keep quality "cheaper" players in the pipeline.

Is it an underpass, or an overpass? Sounds like. a real quandary of perspective that only George Carlin could work out. If the primary road is level, it's an underpass. If the primary road is elevated, it's an overpass. If it's two primary roads or two secondary roads, it's an interchange.
Scratch that. If the road that deviates from straight or ground level goes up, it's an overpass. If the road that deviates from straight or ground level goes down, it's an underpass. If it's an elevated freeway,it's just one long series of underpasses.

You got it the dude that eats dirt. Matt Taibbi, a liberal who writes for Rolling Stone to his credit wrote an op-ed yesterday saying the news media deserves a reckoning for the Russiagate hoax

If i signed Springer it would definitely be front loaded. So his cap hit qould be lower as he gets older.
But thats me. I wouldnt want a back loaded contract on Springer. So if i need to cut him i could

Geroge must have a good year this year to get what he wants.....one like in 2017. No doubt they did JV's deal looking ahead to when they needed money for Correa, who will demand a LOT if he produces as he is capable. I can see the Yankees making a big push for him.

Two at MMP then it’s off to Tampa for four games. If the Astros split in Tampa I would be happy.

When the phrase "No more indictments" (Mueller Investigation) came out yesterday, you could hear the collecive moan of left wing America.

The Astros rarely do well there so I’m tempering expectations. It’s not the easiest park to homer in either, and Kiermaier catches every damn ball.

I am glad we extended Bregman but George needs to be rewarded. Whether or not he should bat leadoff, he is our spark plug, and there is a lot of value in being a major part of the foundation of a championship franchise. This team would’ve lost the World Series without him, and it wouldn’t have been that close.
