Ok so after some searching and reading talking to Jeffery Todd and a couple guys from House of Houston. J.T. Realmuto for Kyle Tucker and Christian Javier should get the deal done. The amount of Catchers on the Market as of now is insane. Alot of Gms are thinking his price might lower alittle bit but not much. ----------------------------------------- Paul Goldschmidt seems to be the hot name that atleast 5 top writer's think could be an Astro. Tyler White, Cionel Perez, Framber Valdez and Rogelio Armentaros. It's just enough of a trade value to make sure the Diamondbacks get a replacement 1B. And three pitchers all three would be ready to go come Spring training to fight for Corbins spot and or Grienkes if he is traded. ----------------------------------------- House of Houston believes Nelson Cruz might have atleast a two year contract on the Table. But as some may have seen they want Cruz to learn 1B aswell so he is versatile and can not just be stuck at DH and spot start LF. ----------------------------------------- Jeffery Todd believes Micheal Brantley is the Astros top choice when it comes to signing an OF. I brought up Derek Dietrich as a signing aswell and he said it would be a great add because of his utility role with Diaz would cover all but Catcher. Which would make Yuli Gurriel expendable. ----------------------------------------- Nathan Evoildi its probably the most likely Sp the Astros have talked about as a FA deal. But they are looking over the league for trades for younger pitchers name to watch Dylan Bundy or Jon Gray. ----------------------------------------- Surprisingly the Astros aren't really Linked to any Relief Pitchers. ALTHOUGH names to watch Britton, Robertson, Kelly and Familia. ----------------------------------------- Surprise Charlie Morton is believed to be coming back on a 2yr deal. No one Believes the Astros will retain Marwin Gonzalez or Dallas Keuchal. Watch for Evan Gattis.. So, you think the Astros can get Realmuto, Goldschmidt, Brantley, Cruz, Eovaldi, Morton, and Gattis in the same offseason?

Seattle just traded Colome for Narvaez to replace Zunino.

Cole is worth a hell of a lot more than Keuchel. If Corbin gets the deal we keep hearing about, I can see Cole getting more than $25 million a year. We need to start trying to extend Cole and Verlander now. "Cole is worth a hell of a lot more than Keuchel." I disagree on being worth a "hell of a lot more" but he is certainly worth more than either of those guys That's why we need to see what they're going to get before we even look at an extension with Cole. Verlander on the other hand, I think it would be worth it to us to offer him a 3-year extension right now. You're going to end up overpaying on the back end, but he'll still put butts in seats as his HoF career draws to a close. Once Corbin signs and we see what he gets, we will have a good idea of what Keuchel can expect. It will be too much no matter what it is. Awhile back, I didn't think Keuchel could get $20 million a year but he might.....even though he isn't worth it. He may get more years on the deal than makes sense, too. A three year deal should be the max offer for him.

Cruz isn’t an outfielder anymore. He barely was back in the day. His defense handed the Cardinals a championship.

And NG was right about Luhnow. On Astroline, he only mentioned Whitley as untouchable. That doesn’t bode well for Tucker.

I feel like Goldschmidt and Cruz alone would make a fantastic offseason. Roll the dice with Tucker. If we get two hitters and no starting pitchers, I'll be disappointed. If we walked away this offseason with say, Cruz and Syndergaard, I'd be fairly pleased. I don't think our catching or 1B situation keeps us out of another World Series run. Our pitching could, especially after next season.

Why would two “win now” teams bother to trade with each other?

Our positions needing biggest improvement are LF, C, 1B, and DH. That being said, White and Gurriel are solid enough, and Tucker and Stassi/Stubbs have potential still. All of us are talking about all these all-star replacements, but, realistically, we're likely going to see improvements already with what we have. We need to get a proven vet in at least one of DH, C or LF, in my opinion, but the pitching needs to be the priority with McCullers out. If you go into next year with White/Gurriel at 1B and DH you're still likely an improvement over the partially healthy-Gurriel/Gattis you started 2018 with. And Stassi/Stubbs in 2019 overall is likely going to be better than McCann/Stassi. Tucker is the biggest question mark in LF, but he could also erupt and be Bellinger.

Why would two “win now” teams bother to trade with each other? It's like they're swapping big contracts and moving a closer for prospects. I don't think Seattle is trying to win now or they wouldn't have traded Paxton. The trade makes sense for the Mets if they plan on keeping SYndergaard.

As far as I am concerned, Luhnow could sign/trade for Goldschmidt, resign Morton, throw the dice with JB/Whitey and then call it a day. Team nucleus by itself is WS worthy.

I’m wondering if he takes rumors as facts. he thinks anything he reads on a website or hears on mlb network is going to happen. He even says he "has talked to" them when all he does is read the crap they write. I guess all he does is sit and google all these sites and then reword it so it sounds like he has the inside scoop on everything. Fact is he doesn't know crap about what he's talking about.

Stassi and Stubbs have plenty of potential to make a very solid tandem if used properly. Ideally it would be nice to get a good veteran in there, but I don't think it's worth overpaying in prospects for. Not compared to what we need in pitching. If you look at most of the recent World Series-caliber teams, none of them were built with super impressive catchers. (Including our own in 2017 and Boston in 2018.) If we can get a big bat at DH or LF, and a starting pitcher with control past next season, we'll be in very good shape. Anything more than that is icing.

But,that still only fills three spots in the rotation. McHugh could be inserted in one spot, but, I don't want to risk having to use James, Valdez, or Peacock as the other one at this point. McHugh would be a good #5,but, we need to sign or trade for another starter. If we knew Whitley would be major league ready, that would answer a lot of questions. I still think signing Cruz and McCutchen would be great as far as filling the DH and outfield need. But, we MUST address the hole we have behind the plate.......A Stassi/Hermann combo is not a comforting thought.

Signing one is preferable to dealing Tucker or other top prospects in a trade. I definitely agree that we need another starting pitcher and I hope it does not turn out to be named Happ. I'd overpay for Keuchel before I'd sign him.

I'd rather see us trade Tucker for a good proven SP (with multiple years of control), sign a veteran LFer like McCutchen and then see if a reasonable trade for Cervelli could be had (or sign Ramos to a reasonable deal). Springer (CF) McCutchen (LF) Altuve (2B) Bregman (3B) Correa (SS) Gurriel (1B) Reddick (RF) White (DH) Cervelli/Ramos (C) Stassi/Stubbs Marisnick Kemp Diaz Verlander Cole Trade SP McHugh James/Whitley That's a championship-caliber team again without completely mortgaging the future.

I have a feeling that JV and Stassi don’t gee haw. I remember the game last season when it appeared that JV was upset with Stassi and was letting him know about it. Wasn’t long after that game when Luhnow traded for Maldanado. I may be wrong, but I don’t think Stassi caught another game for JV the rest of the year....didn’t catch many more games for anyone. One of the the things I have read about Stubbs is that he gets along with the pitchers well and calls a good game.

You have kept a close watch on the farm system so you probably know more about Stubbs than the rest of us. I have heard nothing but good things about him. Before I deal Tucker for a catcher, I'd hand Stubbs the job. If a FA can be signed to a reasonable deal, that would be OK, too.
