I never thought I'd see the day where 160 IP of nearly 5 ERA with a ton of HR given up would be classified as "solid". i agree and feel the same way. The guys on mlb network were salivating awhile ago because guys pitch 180 innings. Today's pitchers have no idea what a work load really is.........No Ryans, Seavers, Carltons in this bunch.

Michael Brantley’s reps are telling clubs he is willing and able to play 1B for the first time as a major leaguer. No team is looking at Brantley full-time at 1B, but those interested in him are aware of his versatility. Brantley played 53 games at 1B in the minors in 2007-08. i doubt if much importance is being placed on Brantley over him playing first base ten years ago.

In his story today on ESPN, @dschoenfield calls the #Astros a "sleeper team" on Bryce Harper. 🤔 He isnt the first theres growing since ot could go down 3yrs. With player option on 4th and 5th years. Something along those lines Did someone suggest Harper would take a 3- 5 year contract? I might consider that at $30m per year.

Three to five for Harper would be great for a power and OBP corner outfielder. He’s like a higher ceiling and less injury prone version of Brantley.

Brantley and Cruz come on this is a givin. I want Cruz but will take McCutchen over Brantley I like that Brantley is a lefty and has a calm approach at the plate. I think that is why Luhnow seems to like him. Plus, he has decent speed like Goldschmidt and is a 20-20 candidate.

This won't happen, but what if you could get Harper on a 3-4 year, but he would want $35-45 million per year.

Fiers is gutless and total garbage..the last thing we need back is that loser no matter what his numbers are "projected" to be. I wouldn't want the the SOB if his ERA was around 3.00

I wouldn't want the the SOB if his ERA was around 3.00 I remember that one road game (Oakland, I think) where he sucked and was taken out. The camera showed him getting in a heated argument with Hinch, I believe. I don’t want him back.

Abreu is not my first choice for a first baseman/dh kind of guy. I wonder what it would take to get Jose Martinez from St Louis now that they have Goldschmidt. Murphy would be a good add for a free agent and would cost less than Cruz.

LMBO. Why would he take that when he can get a 10 year/$300m contract from 1/3 of the teams in the league? I know he won't take it and I wouldn't give him a 10 year/$300 million deal. What the hell has he done to make him worth $30 million a year? I know somebody will probably give it to him and I don't think for one minute that he plays for the Astros. I would not give Harper as much as we are giving Altuve, who actually earned the $30 milllion ( if any player is worth that much) he is getting. When you pay these contracts, you have to consider the revenue this player will generate in terms of more ticket sales and sales of merchandise. We are already drawing huge crowds so I doubt if adding Harper will much of an effect on that. His ego and attitude concerns me.
