Why the hate on Harper? He’s not that horrible of a player as people make him seem. Agreed. I don't want to spend the money it would take to get him, but I also wouldn't hate having him in our lineup and team.

I think they have moves to be made and that's why he comments the way he does. He said it plans as day Lunhow is very very patient.
On another not I'm giving Happ a three year deal with a team opt out on the last year.

He's a little fiery for sure, but I don't think there is any question he wants to win and he wants to be a part of something big. I just think we would need the money he would require to keep good pitching. Signing Harper makes Tucker easier to trade.

Whomever gets him is going to pay $325+ million over 9+ years with an opt-out clause or two.

#Brewers GM David Stearns: "Second base is a position that's been in flux for us, since I've been here." @stevephillipsgm: "... since Jim Gantner." Stearns on Priority One: t.co/ojM2Y866v1Can you imagine a trade of Tony Kemp to the Brewers to play 2B? Idk just thinking out of the box

Astros could counter with Kluber, but that means Tucker, JB and another top prospect or two...maybe James as well. No one wants J.B. I don't want Tucker included in any deal for Syndergaard.

Sources: Where J.A. Happ winds up could come down to the team that guarantees him a third year. Right now, none has, and he has indicated he’ll sign with the first one that does. If none steps up, he’s got a number of two-year offers to consider, most from contending teams. I hope we aren't one of the teams involved.

At that time the Padres also looked like a good match, but I haven't looked at that team in a while so I'm not sure if they would currently be improved by trading for Kemp. I'd like to see Corey Knebel become an Astro. Any other members of their team you'd like to see in return for Kemp?

If Harper is signed, I can see a deal involving Tucker either going to the Mets in a deal for Syndergaard, oro Miami in a deal for Realmuto. I still like the idea of making a deal with the Tigers for Fulmer and Castellanos.

But I wonder if you try and push for Realmuto and get him it helps away Harper? Maybe the original deal 10yr 300m with opt outs on the last 5yrs?

I just read that the Astros are one of the teams in touch with Happ. He wants 3yrs depending on price I would do it. With tema option on the 3rd year. Make that his highest paid year

Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic are reporting that the White Sox have acquired right-hander Ivan Nova from the Pirates, pending medicals.

Lotto ticket type player I don't know anything about Jarvis, but I read on mlbtr that the Brewers might want to trade one of Broxton and Santana. I could see Santana improving the Astros, but not Broxton. A lot of it depends on what can be expected of Reddick. He never seemed to fully get back to form after his 'spider bite' thing.

Cardinals want to trade Jose Martinez for a lefty reliever. Boom, give them Perez.

They have Osuna now so they broke the seal on shying away from people with character issues. Harper hasn’t had that kind of negative exposure yet.

Well, we farted around and let McCutchen get away on a three year deal to the Phillies...of course, we may not have even been considering him,but we should have at least talked to him.

Cutch should have been traded for last year to help the team on a playoff push....this off-season I am okay with the Astros not acquiring him...its Tucker Time (unless the Astros trade him to get Kluber -----I am stuck on this one, because Tucker is the future - but Kluber is under control for 3 years)

Speaking of the Padres..., they’re farm system is loaded. 4 of the top 10 lefthanded pitching prospects in all of ML baseball are in the San Diego farm system.
