Gonna be a short night for Dallas if this ump keeps calling like he has so far. McHugh is probably ready to go a few innings. Even if Dallas just pitches 4, should be fine so long as he doesn't allow lots of runs. Anyway I kind of feel like the Astros will score 10 tonight.

Hoyt only pitched one inning with Fresno since spring training ended. Nothing special: Allowed a hit, no walks, no runs, no strikeouts.
He seemed to knock off the rust as spring training progressed.

ugh, another revenge hit by a former Astro.
Castro was on fire yesterday. I tried to warn about that in the series preview.

Good. Walked Davis. Now we can start the third inning at the top of the order.

Springer should have hit a dinger on that first pitch.

Springer looks horrible. Nice hit by Jake. They are pitching George outside, and he is in one of his pull everything funk syndromes.

Springer has 45 AB’s and 15 K’s.
Keuchel is cementing his exit after 2018 as an Astro.

I almost wish Hudgens would sit down with each of the struggling hitters and show him his 10 worst ABs. The ones where he got a pitch to drive and missed it or fouled it off. Then, get some of the spare bullpen arms (or borrowed Fresno guys) to throw approximately those same pitches, as much as possible, in live BP to those hitters until they get it right. It may well involve practicing going oppo like you're suggesting.

Just reading what I read in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette I believe you, it's just so strange for an adult male to change his surname this late in life. I noticed a Vasquez in the box score earlier today and thought 'Huh, never heard of that guy!'

Maybe there’s something to the umpires cracking down on Keuchel’s strike zone. He just hasn’t been consistently great in three years, and when he is, he goes to the DL.

Springer looks horrible. Nice hit by Jake. Including tonight George is now 3-25 in his last 7 games. That’s ALCS territory there.

It was only a matter of time before the pitching staff got blown up for a game. We already saw last night how the Twins nearly scored 2 to 5 runs on homers that just missed by feet.
However the Astros' own offense is due for a breakout, so this one is not out of hand. Could be a wild one.
