I'm putting together a hypothesis that Coach doesn't like certain players because they don't look like "ballplayers" as he subconsciously (or maybe consciously) thinks they should look, regardless of their performance.
Players he doesn't like:
White - Chubby and bearded Stassi - Chubby and bearded Kemp - Little dainty looking guy. Altuve - Very little guy Keuchel - Tattooed and fancy-bearded
Players he does like:
Marisnick - Tall and strong
Anybody else we can add to these lists that would fit the hypothesis?

And you do a great job of carrying the jockstrap of the absolute worst player on the team. Do you have your phone set up to beep and vibrate everytime a post that is critical of Joke is made on the forum? I also find it funny how you always compare your "best defensive player in the history of baseball" to three low talent filler-in-ers, rather than to real baseball players. Apparently, those who are intelligent enough to keep Jake on the team disagree with you. All teams have "filler-in-ers" called reserves. We have three who are much less valuable than Jake. You mean the same intelligent people who keep Kemp, White, and Stassi on the team?

Kemp is just here because Straw/Tucker etc. aren't ready. No one has put him forth as some sort of savior, all star, best player in the history of America. And he doesn't play enough to really have any impact, unlike Luscious Locks, who is all too often put into the position to feck up any initiative the team may be building up. I still think Jake either crapped in your Cheerios or turned you down for an autograph. Yep, every time he leaves that runner at 3rd base by either striking out, or being unable to lay down a simple bunt, my Cheerios are ruined

I didn’t have a problem with Keuchel. I just didn’t care for the bad luck talk. When you throw as slowly as he does and don’t get the corner calls you desperately need, hitters can adjust and drive the ball the other way and beat the precious shifts. These hitters aren’t helpless morons who can’t figure him out. The bad luck talk gives him a little too much credit and not enough to the opposing offense. Nobody considers beating shifts with hard contact as bad luck. Dribblers and dying pop-ups in no-man's land would be bad luck. If it keeps happening, it’s not bad luck anymore.

I can't add to your list, because Joke is the only player he has ever complimented/not been critical of. Which is what blows my mind...the constant complaints about superstars while constantly propping up the shittiest baseball player I have ever seen.

The purpose of this thread is not to predict what Jeff Luhnow will actually do by the trade deadline, i.e. predict what fans will 'actually get'. The purpose of this thread is to discuss plausible trades that a reasonable GM might entertain based on information that is available to the general public. Okay fine. Stammen, Givens, and MadBum wearing Astros jerseys on August 1. Make it happen, Luhnow. All three wearing Astros uniforms on August 1 is not plausible. ... unless of course, Luhnow doesn't give a rat about maintaining a healthy farm system and sustainability.

Marisnick or Kemp are just saving Straw's spot for a few more weeks. Replace Kemp with Straw The purpose of having Kemp is for him to slap hits off the bench and give guys a day off. Straw is potentially just a better version of Marisnick. It makes more sense to send down Jake if you had to choose. Personally, I think you might as well send both down to get Straw and Alvarez, but Kemp becomes a free agent if he gets demoted.

It’s like handing the pitcher a “Get out of Jail” card.

You surmise that I don't like Altuve because I said he makes some dumb decisiions, which he does. If those two chubby and bearded guys actually produced anything offensively or defensively, I would like them. As they are, both are dead weight. Keuchel is an over-rated batting practice pitcher who is still out of work because he and that asshole, Boras, have him overpriced. Jake is one of the top defensive outfielders in the game. He will be here after White, Stassi, and Kemp are gone. You have the hots for the slackers who DO NOTHING for the team.

Jake will be gone after this year if not before. The defensive value you go on about won't keep him on a MLB roster unless he accepts a minor league deal past this year. Nobody will want to pay him more than what he is making right now unless he suddenly starts hitting as well as he did two years ago.

He still has more value than Kemp, Stassi, or White Depends on what the team needs. Do they need a streaky but above average hitter with limited defensive value? Do they need a backup catcher with good defense but unproven and limited offensive value? Do they need a speedy versatile defensive player but completely unknown offensive talents? Do they need a very good defensive outfielder that is a complete hole offensively? All have strengths and weaknesses. None is a complete player. I'd argue that at the moment they're all similar in value.

And I'm not lying, Junior. I'm just stating a truth you're not grown up enough to be able to accept.
Quit whining and read what I wrote in it's entirety. It's only 'plausible' if you believe Luhnow is foolish enough to make a huge win-now move at the cost of sustainability.

I'm not sure what teams would want Marisnick in a plausible trade come July. He'd most likely be thrown in at the last minute if at all

I did notice in Julia's mural though during the Twins series, that Jake was one of the 7 Astros that the artist painted. He sure is a fan favorite
