so the 'worst' Astros hitter in the lineup tonight is Yuli Gurriel with an OPS in the .740's.
Jake Marisnick is near .950 and we're already a quarter of the way through the season.
This is pure Astros heaven.

Next year is the final year of Jake's contract with the Astros. If he keeps this up, people are going to start talk about extending him. I wonder what he'd earn in free agency.

Why did the Tigers pull their starting pitcher?
He threw 88 pitches his last outing. I thought they'd let him go longer, unless he's injured.

They need to keep the DH spot a roving spot anyways. It should be used to give Brantley, Altuve, Correa, Springer, and Gurriel days off but keeping their bats in the lineup. Maybe even Chirinos if he stays this hot. We never needed a set DH to begin with which is why I never thought we needed to invest the money in someone like Cruz. as long as Diaz is a better second baseman than a shortstop, I don't mind keeping Altuve at DH until he's 100%Oh, you know I’m down with that.

Anybody who considers Tyler White to be unrosterable needs to check out Josh Harrison's stat line... .162 avg with a .455 OPS.
I know Harrison is a two-time All-Star and all, but come on, the Tigers can do better than that.

I’ve noticed a lot of guys homering off Verlander’s fastball.

The Tigers have a 25-year-old 2B at AAA Toledo named Harold Castro. He tore up the Venezuelan winter league a few months ago and he's busting out with a .340ish average to start this year. I would have to imagine that Harrison's time is limited with Castro chomping at the bit.

I wouldn't mind seeing Reddick try a steal here to take off the GIDP possibility.

The Astros have done a decent job of cutting down on the GIDPs this year.
Last year, they GIDP'd in 13.0% of situations where there was a risk of that, which was well above the league average of 10.4%.
This year they have trimmed it to 11.9%. Still worse than the league average, but they are trending in the right direction.

JV's on a pace where he could just throw a CG.

The Tigers are really helping JV's pitch count by swinging on the first pitch and popping it up.

Not sure why JV didn't get the strike 3 call there on Dixon. Ump's been calling that outside corner all night.

JV getting into a little jam here.

this all started when JV started pussyfooting around with Harrison. If he had attacked Harrison early in the count, we'd be watching the Astros batting now.

I'd only give Altuve 25% odds of making that catch. Nice work there by Aledmys.
