Charlie Morton takes on Mike Minor.
The Rangers have 4 key players on the DL but that means the top performers from their farm system, guys like Ronald Guzman and Isiah Kiner-Falela, are going to try to seize this opportunity to cement themselves as major leaguers. It also means the Astros pitchers are not very familiar with some of the new faces on the Rangers squad.
Yesterday we saw Hinch put Marisnick on the starting lineup in spite of big-time struggles at the plate, possibly because Jake has at times posted better numbers against lefty pitchers than Josh Reddick has. However, Reddick is the current team leader in overall offense as measured by wRC+, so perhaps (hopefully) Hinch will let Reddick start today against Minor, another lefty.
Max Stassi has thrived off of left-handed pitchers so perhaps he could replace Gattis at DH today. Or Stassi could catch with McCann as DH. With Gattis on the bench, he would be available for emergency catching duties and the Astros wouldn't have to risk losing the DH if the starting catcher has to come out of the game.
Go Stros!

Some Ranger fans I know have already written off this season. Might not be long till FO feels the same. Good change they might be dealing veterans.

On another thread someone speculated about how much of the current hitting woes might be due to not having a veteran hitting counselor in the dugout like Beltran was last year. I bet Adrian Beltre could fit that role pretty well. (And without becoming an offensive liability to the team either.)

Looks like Hinch wants to give Gattis more opportunities. Or perhaps more than that, give McCann a full day to rest.

Like the chance to see AJ's line up card. Any reason why a couple of players are penned in with blue and red ink?

I’m wrong. Twins may not play all weekend. Where’s that retractable roof?
Weather looks iffy in Seattle Monday and Tuesday.

I doubt the Rangers want to extend his contract, and they'd be better off getting a prospect in return for him by trading him this season rather than letting him finish 2018 in Arlington. So it would make sense for both sides. Also, from a financial perspective, the Rangers save more money the sooner they trade him. A Beltre trade could come sooner than July 31.

I want to see Colon pitch to Ichiro this year. It ought to happen some time.

Colon looks sharper on the mound this year than he did with the Braves last year. But if the Astros could tag him for 5 runs in the 1st inning the way they did the last time they saw him, that would be fine by me

Colon is due for a bad outing. I'm thinking that is the game our bats will break out for 6+ runs. I think we will and can win this afternoon, but I'm not sure this is the day we break out.

It's probably to the Astros' advantage that they got to face Minor just a couple weeks ago (and hence saw his entire repertoire and his tendencies on the mound), whereas the Rangers have yet to face Morton this year.

If Morton keeps boring his breaking ball in the hands of lefthanders like that, they are going to have a long day.

When I looked at the Rangers statistics for this year, I had a bad feeling Profar would be getting on base a lot. He's sort of overdue.

Centeno sure had some clutch hits (including HRs) for a guy who hasn't really hit very well over his career.

The offense should produce well today, with Reddick and Stassi in the lineup instead of Fisher and Marisnick. The Astros got 8 hits yesterday so I figure they should be good for at least 11 today.

If they keep hitting the ball on the nose like Correa and Yuli have today, they should score plenty runs.
