No that wouldnt but maybe Chris Archer and Felipe Vazquez for Bryan Abreu, Chris Devenski, Tyler White, Derek Fisher, Jayson Schroeder and Abraham Toro could.
We essentially throw in White and Devenski for thw Archer Crap. And the Pirates get 4 prospects 1 being a lotto pick in Schroeder.
Pretty sure they would jump at the oppertunity.
Thats a hell of a deal if you ask me. Only thing is the Pirates would never save face if they turn and move Archer after they got fleeced in trading with the Rays to get Archer.

Archer seems more like an off season move. Or a move by a team that's out of it this year but might make a run at it next year. What our genius doesn't take into account is that Archer blocks a roster spot. He can't be optioned to the minors. So he'll have to stink up the mound any time you trot him out there, until he gets fixed ... if he ever gets fixed. Not a smart way to run a team that's targeting the best position in the postseason.

Tweet your idea to Luhnow Why? They do what they wanna do. Js. The pirates game the world for Archer. And you see where they are today. Archer can rebound yes, but at what cost to the Pirates? Think about it? The Pirates will end up asking ti much trying to save face. Then they will keep him thinking hey he will be better next year. And he will rot in Pittsburgh. No matter which way we look at it. Im looking at Trade repor. Pirates and Blue Jays we have a repor with. Why not hit the honey holes again?

Lmao if you get Vazquez why not? Your moving Devenski in the deal or even Joe Smith So why not let him try a couple games out of the pen see if Strom can fix some of his stuff before lions den. Js Perez, Armentaros, Devenski, James and Smith could all be moved away either optioning or trade.

Archer needs a lot of tweaking, not a mid-season move...I don't see him being an asset to the 2019 rotation....for 2020, yes, with a lot of work in the off season....I feel the same with Adam Conley.

Bumgarner or Greinke are proven successful pitchers, with Greinke being a likely HoFer.
Chris Archer has always been overrated. People around here were down on Keuchel last season, but Archer has only had two seasons as good or better than what Keuchel did last year and both of those seasons were over 3 years ago. He might be a decent #3 after this year, but he isn't a difference maker right now.

The other has 3years of outrageous amounts of money still owed to him. 1 is in his mid 30s the other is almost 30. This is not the ideal situation for the future of the club. Essentially they would want a young guy to come along that has control. Boyd and Stroman ring that bell very well. The price of them would be the same price as Grienke I would think . So why not get a guy not as expensive that you can have for several years?

Son, adding more players to a deal doesn’t make it a better deal.

However, if Bumgarner is significantly cheaper i.e. not costing Álvarez or Kid Tucker, sure why not?

I think not. Bumgarner, to a team on his no-trade list, which the Astros do belong on, would be sign and trade deal. If Luhnow does make a trade for him and signs him to an extension, you should know damn well that he and his scouts have watched game tape and see what needs to be done, to rejuvenate Madison.

No, you just don't think at all. A pure rental is a possibility. It all depends on the quality, and the size of the return. Contrary to your assessment, Bumgarner is a quality pitcher at a budget salary for the remainder of this season. Whether or not Luhnow pulls the trigger depends on what he would have to give up to get him. The likelihood of Luhnow landing Bumgarner seems far and away greater than him pulling the trigger on a Greinke deal. To begin with, the Diamondbacks aren't even sellers at this point in time. No, some rumor you heard regarding the "what if" doesn't count.

Archer is over-rated.........Greinke has too much money on his contract........Bumgarner would have to agree to an extension before we should trade for him and then only if Strom thinks it's a good move. Stroman and Boyd would both be under club control for awhile but would cost a lot. Bottom line is we need to deal for a quality starter and a reliever.

Could be an extension as part of the deal or just a "bonus" to waive the no-trade. Hard to say. But Bumgarner isn't horribly broken. He his success this year falls a bit short of what he's done in the past but he's still putting up decent numbers.

Js not interested in Giving MadBum an extension. Or taking in Grienke unless i can dump alot of bad contracts on them. And they can eat a very good portion of his contract. Like 55%.
But since they wont id aim for younger more control. You gotta give to get.

I mean if the Astros can sign him to 7O-85 cents on the dollar and and he can produce to 90% of what he used to, I'm definitely all for it

Watching him pitch he runs his mouth on the mound and Via twitter or any other outlet that will listen to him. All of his Freak accedents happen when he is showing off. Read the comments of the people who where there. I actually went in deep to try and see if it was 1 thing that can be fixxed. Its not. Its his head. Its his im better then you mentality. In reality these guys he is pitching against are as good if not better then him. But he sees it as he is god and they get lucky sometimes. Its Mental. Not Mechanical. Read into it

Its not dumping if your seeing the point. Point A. Some of you wanna resign Springer to this 25m a year contract. Try and keep Cole and maybe keep Correa. But you add in Greinke ugh or MadBum who wants a extension if he waves to go to another team. UGH. Then you see there is a big change in the guy. Some say Mechanics some say his environment. Some say Mental. Its not dumping. Im mot shaming you calling you names. Im saying i wouldn't do it. I would stear clear. Read into MadBum and his Injury past the off the field crap. Then look at his demeanor as he gets older on the mound. MENTAL
