I’m with Nate. What’s with everyone’s Bumgarner fetish? If people are about numbers and not age, Greinke is the pitcher to get. Plus, he pitches in a hitter’s park unlike Madison. I don't think Greinke's the pitcher to get either. Maybe if we were an NL teamNope me niether. Money is a bad thing to me. And his money is bad. Of we have any chance what so ever to resign Cole. Well we better not bring that albatross on. I think he would be perfect in St Louis. I heard that the Cards are a 22% chance of making the play offs and they could try and sell some contracts off??? Marcell Ozuna, Jose Martinez, Andrew Miller and maybe Jay Gant. Idk about any of those besides the Pitchers. Miller looked like a lost cause for awhile in St Louis. And Gant is a relative unknown

What about a trade for Lucis Giolito and Alex Colome? Juan Minaya maybe instead of Colome?
That would be an intriguing playe Giolito. 24yrs old and 4 more years of team control. Perfect guy for the Astros? Lots of control and young

I think folks need to prepare themselves that a trade for a starter is more likely to be someone to fill out the middle of our rotation next season (and optimally 2021 for knowing Luhnow) than an impact starter-type for October that would require an increase in payroll

Hard to guess. Maybe something like two of Whitley/Tucker/Alvarez/Martin/Bukauskas plus one other decent piece much farther down the list? For one of those three, I’d better get a badass pitcher in return, not some controllable Mets guy or a once elite guy struggling to get a sub-4 ERA. In terms of older players, what Zack Greinke is doing dwarfs what Bumgarner has been tossing out there this season. I definitely could be wrong, but he could be that Verlander type that kills it as some team’s number two SP. I'm also on board the Greinke train if Arizona feels like they need to retool. Greinke has this year and two more and the Astros are NOT on his no trade list. But since he's being paid what he's worth, they'd have to be reasonable in what they ask with buydowns of salary would accompany shipping of top level prospects.

Giolito and Minaya? What possible reason would the White Sox have for dealing cheap, effective players with plenty of time on their clocks?

seriously though all we really need is another reliever that can be relied on. If Smith and McHugh both come back and are back to where they should be then we really do not need anything. A case could be made for a first baseman to add even more depth to the line up but I really think that they want either Alvarez or Beer to be the first baseman long term. They have to find a position forThat Alvarez. I would think first base is the logical place. That is my thinking as well. He's tall and if he can get the footwork down like Bagwell did, I think he'd become a fixture there.

Well Mr Negativity. Its simple. They arent cheap. I understand that. But whats the biggest issue to Giolito? Health. He no so long ago came off the DL. So what do the White Sox Need? More talent. They are still rebuilding and still have players that they need to move away from. You said Minaya? Well I say he is a better version of Framber and Francis Martes. He has control issues. He is wild. But he also can push the Radar gun and his Wildness is short spurts. So if you think the White Sox sont need help in not alot of places and can sell a player high that possibly wasnt in there future plans anyway but some how showed up this year. Hmmm Think about there shoes. Think how many times has Giolito been traded and how long he has been in the minors and how many chances he has actually had before this season. Injurys? He is the wild card of all wildcards

You misspelled "Mr Sane and Sensible". If Giolito is an injury risk, why the hell would Luhnow want him? Sorry Doofus, you can't slice it both ways. If the player is someone the Astros would want, you can't make a case for the other team not wanting him for the same reason he would be a bad choice for the Astros. Basic reality: Teams will trade good young players with time on their clocks, but ONLY if you return players who are expected to be as-good (or better) in the future and if you return in greater number. Player who are performing NOW, have value to teams who are competing NOW. And the teams who aren't in contention know that. So be prepared to pony up big-time. So what do YOU think it would take to land Giolito and Minaya? (It was YOU who tossed them together in this conversation, not me.) If you aren't talking about the top-5 on the Astro's prospect list to just begin the conversation, you're silly to think the White Sox wouldn't just hang up the phone.

Gurriel was fine enough at 1B while it lasted. I think his countryman has earned a shot at competing for his job. Álvarez can give Brantley a breather once in a while too. I think we should wait until Alvarez gets more than 1 hit before we start having him replace our million dollar men.

O my bad Miss Negative Sorry my mistake. I shouldnt have assumed your gender. Anyways. Risk vs reward. Could he with great coaching and good facilities around him come away from not getting injured as often? Or Minaya get control with great coaching? Idk But you can use the fact he gets injured to bring the price down alittle. Or Minaya having some control issues. Not sure itll work but who knows crazier things have happened.... Breaking News: This just in Gerrit Cole has been traded to the Astros. I dont ever count out the Astros js

This was on clutch fans
Kyle Tucker, J.B. Bukauskas, Tyler White, Luis Santana and Josh James To the Nats for MAX Scherzer, Sean Doolittle and Brian Dozier
Nats pay ten million per starting next year on Scherzer's contract. And 2m on Doziers.
Thoughts?

We'd be getting old in a hurry, but I'd have to give that some serious thought with the $10M/yr contract buydown.
I'd like it this year, but I don't know about the out years.

Not sure itll work but who knows crazier things have happened.... Breaking News: This just in Gerrit Cole has been traded to the Astros. rahahaha! Gerrit Cole had exactly two years of control left and was already making $6,750,000 from his second arb. Giolito and Minaya are both pre-arb and making minimum wage. And they each have four and a half years of control left. There's absolutely no comparison. Show me where the Astros traded for a high-performing pre-arb guy with four and a half years of control left and we'll talk. Until then, you got nuthin'.

I like Max and Sean but Brian is a no Go.
Its kinda like hey we need some money taken off are books here are two guys and a Great pitcher. Gives us youth back. We will help with some money so we can get youth.
That OF if they got Tucker would be sickaning with all the Young guys in it.
But Max with Verlander would be kinda cool to have. 2 horses back to back. The wierd eyed bandit

Here is an interesting thought; Alvarez is the perfect candidate for the 1st base job long term. Let's say that is the direction that the team chooses to go in and he starts there for the next 30 games and everyone heals back up by then. During that time he hits for an ops of over 900 but his defense around the bag is so bad that he becomes a standing joke. What do we do. Gurriel is currently ranked 22 out of 24 qualifying 1st basemen in ops so he is kind of sucking. White is a lard ass who does not seem to understand that he has been given all the chances in the world to perform and all that he has done well this year is to eat boxes of oreos. So what then.

If he can scoop a low throw or toss the ball to the pitcher on the way to first base, that’s good enough. I really hope he has at least some range because with Altuve’s range and arm, I hope the guy to his left can bail him out on occasion.

Yea for sure, Tucker up would be awesome. If the plan is to have Yordan at 1B then today is the day he should be there let Gurriel set on the bench and coach him up of move gurriel over to 3rd base. Then if he does well Yordan. Then see if you can move him in July.
Could be an interesting situation to have.. I mean its gonna get very crowded very fast when Springer Altuve Diaz and Correa eventually come back.
But we need a SP and RP maybe a Catcher very badly And White Stassi and depending on what Happens Jake or Kemp needa go..
But who knows?
