I have never said he is untouchable. I said he won't be released. If he is as bad as most of you think, who would trade for him? I am sure voodoo the idiot has a deal working right now. Um giants would die for him. In that park he would be god Don't they already have Pillar?

Only one person here thinks Jake is untouchable. I have never said he is untouchable. I said he won't be released. If he is as bad as most of you think, who would trade for him? I am sure voodoo the idiot has a deal working right now. I don’t think he’ll ever be released because they love him. I think his defense is great but not elite to the point where he should be a starter. It’s fine for now because they’re so beset by injuries, but when Springer gets back, Marisnick should be a pinch runner/9th inning guy.

Don't they already have Pillar? He pretty much does exactly what Jake does - plays good defense and occasionally gets a hit. I mean by that token, the Sox should trade the light hitting Adam Engel to San Fran and build more around their core.

Actually, Jake is hitting okay for a CF this year. He was pretty good in 2017, too. But over his career, he's been pretty wimpy.

ill give him credit for his power. He doesn’t hit much, but he can hit it 400’ easily.

OPS+ is a pretty good yardstick for overall batting value, as are wOBA and wRC+ They use a stat called ISO to rate power. library.fangraphs.com/offense/iso/ So far this year, 178 is average across all mlb. Jake is above average right now. Here's how he compares to other Astros hitters. (click the MORE button to see the whole team) www.fangraphs.com/teams/astros

I get what the article says. JS. There is no one worth the time on that team. Austin Hedges maybe Mejia idk doubtful. He is not a Catcher. Has power but his Batters Eye is poop. Yates is the only player that would be worth a damn to go after

Its just his hitting. RISP he gets anxious. There are times when i day that about the shift. Brantley for instance. Wide open to his left bunt that shit to the left and run. You just gotta beat the pitcher. Brantley is fast enough to do it. Reddick is the same 0-11 in that last serious. Come on you gotta try to get on base.

You and I agree on how left-handed hitters should combat the shift. When I see the left side wide open and seem them hit a weak ground ball to second base or hit into a DP, it makes me wonder how their brain works. If they are giving ypu the left-side. take it. It makes sense.

I just wish I’d see more of alternative approaches to getting on base instead of clobbering easy DP’s to infielders. What’s the point in getting excited about Bregman getting on base when they do so little with runners and gaming defenses with their goofy shifts?

It makes sense. Every game they will eventually shift back if they see you taking there BS away. I hate the shift. The other day Brantley had like 15feet of nobody then third base then 35feet of nothing Omg if I had that when I played baseball. Pride be damned I'm getting on base. I would put my faith in yhe Pitchers hands every damn time because I understand he can throw hard, put curves and spins on the ball. BUT, can he do that on the run and twist and turn hos body whole the other guy is running his but off just to get on base. And still be accurate on time and beat the runner? Im taking my damn chances. The bunt should be done every time u see that. Brantley is fast

Question When batting what is the main goal when your on the plate? Get Tha F on base. By all means necessary. This is where the game misses its Baseball. The real game.

On another note im liking Alveraz plate discipline. He strikes out but he also walks. I would like him to be more hitter then power. But power is his thing.
I wanna see Tucker up. Soon.

I implore you guys to read this. I found ita very informative when it comes to the Penalty Cap the MLB has www.crawfishboxes.com/2019/6/14/18679115/exploring-the-competitive-tax-implications-on-the-astros-trade-deadline-approach#poll-resultsIt says the same thing I have been preaching for awhile about guys like Josh Reddick and Yuli Gurriel. The fact Kyle Tucker needs to be up and batting who cares about Kemp, White or Fisher. There is a big reason why this Offseason, will be a heart breaker for some of you guys on players. Josh Reddick could be Traded Yuli Gurriel Maybe cut or traded who knows. He could be traded this season?? Gerrit Cole wont be back. Could, dont get me wrong. But very doubtful. And the main thing.. the main thing of the above article... they need long term young players to help combat this problem of the Cap. Says where close to 18m of free space according to CoTS

He needs to be getting MLB abs as soon as possible
