A month ago, I think everyone thought Vlad, Jr had the ROY wrapped up. But guess what has happened?
WAR. AB. HR. RBI. OPS BA
Vlad. 1.6 317 13 49 .803 .274
Yordan 1.9 154 14 43 1.119 .338
I don't think its too earlier to start calling this possible upset.

Yordan's counting stats are surpassing all the rookies, even those who have played a full season. If he continues on this pace, he'll be the obvious favorite. The only problem he may have is if enough voters downplay him because of his lack of defensive contribution. AND the fact that Vlad, Jr. has name recognition. Voters do weird stuff for weird reasons sometimes. |

I believe Alvarez could pull off what Ryan Howard did in 2005 (Win with only a little more than half of the season played). Howard had the HRs and RBIs but Willy was a leadoff hitter.
Guarantee you if Yordan plays the rest of the season healthy with similar #s he wins ROY. Yordan has played in exactly half the games as Vlad and has more HRs and almost as many RBIs.

I am sure some liberals will call this a racist remark.  If Yordan continues producing at a rate close to what he is doing now, he should be ROY. However,. I want be surprised to see Junior Guerrero get it |

I like the fact that he doesn't fall into the trap that most large hitters fall into: He doesn't just go up to bat looking for a HR. He takes his hits wherever they are, and moves the runner along.

Yordan has as much or more plate discipline than most rookies and some veteran players. He seldom goes out of the zone to swing at a pitch . The numbers he has put up in such a short period of time say he should be a top candidate for ROY.

I have heard some pretend not to understand English and later overhear them speaking it fluently. One of the first Jobs I had when I got back from Nam was selling Wedding Albums in the Miami area. I got put mostly in the Cuban neighborhood and most of the Women who answered the door would go No Habla English. I quickly learned a trick to get them. After the said the No Habal I would say I see a Spider on you Upper Left Arm 7 out of 10 would half scream and start shaking and wiping the Left Arm. I would then say Not Really. I quit that Job pretty quickly. |
