Age should have nothing to do with it....you call up your best player. When I was still coaching, if I had a Freshman who could out-play a senior, the freshman played. I had a few parents complain because underclassmen took their son's position......Too bad becaiuse the best player should play. I did the same in basketball....age and seniority played no part in my decisions and should not be a factor for the Astros when deciding on who to recall. They're playing about the same. The majors are not high school. If two players are playing the same, see what the older one has to offer since you have more time with the younger player. If they are playing the same, I see your point. I have just heard more about Toro. The age deal is good for any level.......you play your best players without regard to age.

Glad we got Peacock back. We get James back soon too. Hopefully they can help cover some of the workload decently until he gets back. I'm more concerned about Correa. Like him or not, when he's healthy he makes our lineup really deep. We need that against the Yankees. At least they know what is wrong with Pressly and are fixing it....Correa is just a wait and hope approach. Hopefully, Peacock or James can step in and handle the 8th......I don't trust Harris there and I sure as hell don't want to see Devenski or Rondon. The thing to remember and be happy about (provided he does it again) is that Hinch throws "the clipboard" away in the postseason when it comes to pitching decisions. If it means getting a decisive victory, he has shown he isn't afraid to play for that game regardless of the rest of the series.

I'm not upset about seeing Toro. I'm just surprised, since it's likely only a small amount of time, that it isn't Tanielu. Age may not matter as far as talent goes, I agree. Play who is best. But since the MLB is a business as well as a sport, service time and options matter. It's generally favorable to lean towards giving the older player a chance first. Not a big deal though.

Better looking lineup, offensively. Hope they can execute.
It would sure be nice to see Reddick go off and get his mojo back. He's about to be a negative value player from a WAR standpoint. His OPS+ is down to 80 (which means he is about 20% worse, offensively, than an average player). He has 2 RBI in the last month (22 games), and has not homered since June. For $13 million this season, and another $13 million next year...guaranteed. "Mr. Irrelevant" is quickly becoming Mr. Unplayable.

I agree that it’s easier to score from third base, but nearly half of those ways involve a mistake by the opposing team. Altuve has the speed to score from second with two outs easily. Reddick, pinch running for Chirinos, has the same. The old adage that you should never make the first or third outs at third base applies. The article cites ways a runner can score from third “with less than 2 outs.” There were already 2 outs when the hustling dumbass and the hustling catcher selfishly chasing going for the cycle made the third out at third base.

It should have been pointed out to the hustling dumbass that he made a bad move that should never happen again and tell the catcher who wanted to hit for the cycle the same thing.

I see you merged our two threads. I'm glad you changed the name from losers to Astros. A team with a record of 81-47 is not a loser.

I’m guessing the FO has decided that they are not going to keep both Toro and Tanielu going forward and have decided to keep the younger guy. If the decision has already been made to move Tanielu in the offseason, I can see why they wouldn’t bring him up and risk decreasing his trade value if he should fall on his face. If Tanielu had not already figured out that he is not in the Astros plans for the future, he should recognize that now.

Both plays were well within acceptable risks. I will not criticize them just because they didn't work this time. Just like the shift, you do it because you benefit over the long run, even if it cost you some times. Making the final out at 3B never benefits anything. No. But being at 3B where a WP or PB gets a run does.

My take is that they want to keep Tanielu's recall rights in tact for another year. Toro is just getting a chance to change their mind or add trade value. I trust Luhnow to figure it out.

I just saw a list of the Top Thirty Astros ML. What is Tanielu real name as I don't see him listed on that list. Toro is #6.

If the little dumbass could have advanced George to third instead of striking out by reaching to swing at a pitch a foot outside George would have scored on Brantley's ground ball. Altuve NEVER tries to advance runners....just goes up and hacls awau.
