95-51 1st in everything. 9.5 games up in the West with 17 to go. Team OPS+: 119 Team ERA+: 123
Anderson vs. Urquidy
Get that mojo back. Hard to know what to expect from Urquidy... Surely it can't be any worse than yesterday though...

I just don't understand why they haven't put Miley on the IL. There is NO WAY he's not injured. You don't go from where he was to where he is, in 15 days, without something being terribly wrong (most likely physically).

I have been watching baseball a long time, and can't remember a pitcher having two worse consecutive starts. Totally inconsistent with work earlier. Miley has to realize that he either gets well (If it is an injury issue) or understand that his spot on the post season roster is in serious danger.

Somebody posted somewhere his spin rates and velocity and such were actually pretty good for him yesterday. He just didn't get the results.
He had some bad luck with some soft contact beating shifts early, and then I think he just got frustrated and started throwing rather than pitching.
He claims he feels good. Could be lying to avoid the IL and hurt his free agency value, of course.

I mean even if he was tipping pitches, how do 15 out 16 reach base? It defies the odds.

I can't say for sure if Miley is hurt since sucking in September is par for his career. His ERA is over 6 in Sept his prior three seasons to coming here Pretty sure I predicted before the season started Miley would fade once we got to this point in the season

Theory? ....... Fatigue? Stamina? Injury prone late season? Onr way or the other, this better get resolved fast.

This isn't a fade...this is falling off of a cliff.

Maybe they are keeping him off the IL since rosters have expanded and they don't need the spot. There is definitely something physically wrong and i'm afraid he knows it and has tried to pitch through it.

I wonder how Yuli is progressing... Correa and Pressly are coming along well, reportedly.

He's not in the lineup today, but the next hit Chirinos gets will be a career high in a season for him.
As we approach the final two weeks of the regular season, here are the HR totals the starters are on pace for:
Bregman: 39 Springer: 37 Gurriel: 30 Altuve: 29 Alvarez: 28 Brantley: 23 Correa: 20 Chirinos: 19 Reddick: 13
And several of those guys will have played in less than 125 games.

I wonder if Correa had a trainer place the ball on the tee and remove it, then place the ball on the tee again and remove it then place the ball on the tee a third time before each swing of the bat in order to simulate him taking two strikes down the middle before swinging the bat?

Oakland responded well to their butt kicking. Astros turn tonight.

Haha, I'm not going to knock his approach at the plate too much. The guy's a good hitter when he's healthy. I just get tired of worrying every time he fouls a ball off his foot, swings too hard, slides wrong, runs too fast, bends to tie his shoe, ties his shoe too tightly, or pulls a hammy walking down the steps into the dugout. Other than that I really like him.

I can't say much for those kind of injuries, but I do know it doesn't make sense for Correa to continue picking up grounders with his lower back problems Since Brantley doesn't have much range for an OF and Springer's long-term status is uncertain, our possibilities should remain open with regard to converting Correa to an outfielder IMO
