I kinda view it like driving on the interstate. Is speeding against the law? Yes. Does everyone do it? Yes. Should I do it, too? Only if you don't want to get your ass run over. Honestly, these comments from holier-than-thou organizations and media members are like the guys speeding past the state trooper who has some poor schmuck pulled over on the side of the road. Just as guilty but didn't get caught...yet.

I really don’t know how I feel about it. I’m a bit ambivalent pertaining to the whole thing. Let me be concise. 1. It is cheating to use video to transmit signals to hitters against the opposing pitchers, let’s face it. You don’t have to disagree just because you’re an Astros fan. It may be an extension of stealing signs, but it is still wrong. So many of us would be irate if the guilty party were some other team. Don’t lie.2. I believe a heavy fine and draft pick penalty is forthcoming. 3. MLB needs to also focus on and punish teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and other teams if they want to pick on us so often. 4. I don’t want to hear shit from Texans/Astros fans about the Patriots, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, or Spygate when we lose to them for the umpteenth time if the Astros are found guilty of wrongdoing. 5. Mike Fiers should never step foot in Houston again, that worthless ingrate. This team needs to clean up its image now. After the Taubman thing and now this, they need to avoid becoming an organization that repels talent. I agree with #1 wholeheartedly. Stealing signs by a runner on second (or anywhere in the stadium) and conveying them to the batter by non-electronic means is fair game. There is absolutely nothing in the rules that prohibits that, nor should there be. But when technology is employed anywhere in that communication chain, that changes everything. Then it becomes cheating. There are rules prohibiting that. If the Astos are guilty of breaking the rules, they rightfully should face whatever consequences the league deems appropriate. The fact that other teams may have broken the same rule has no bearing. Those other teams who are also guilty should be punished, if their guilt can be proven. 2. Fine(s) / loss of draft pick are a real possibility. But the process will be slow. I'm sure there will be an exhaustive investigation before we see sanctions imposed by MLB. I'm not 100% certain MLB will have enough hard evidence to impose sanctions on the Astros. 3. MLB has a responsibility to investigate all allegations against all teams accused. 4. Football sucks. JMO 5. Where there's smoke, there's Fiers. Seriously though, I don't blame Fiers for warning teams he played for later about any cheating of which he knew. Not sure if he recently stepped forward on his own or if some reporter(s) followed up on something they heard from the past.
I heard MLB now requires an 8-second delay on the television signal being broadcast so the temptation to use that has been removed.

I thought it was already 8 seconds. I remember YouTube TV lagged far behind the At Bat app, which was slower than the radio. From what I read (and if I understand it correctly) prior to the 2019 season, delay was optional so each television network could choose whether (and how much) delay would be used. Now it's a hard rule of eight seconds or more.

Clearly a violation. Dude is using those new-fangled clear binocs to signal his teammates. Even carrying them on the basepath which is even more agregious.

What a difference a year makes when your team gets beat by the Astros...

The Kevin Goldstein email was a not particularly fortunate development. From the Goldstein email: "One thing in specific we are looking for is picking up signs coming out of the dugout. What we are looking for is how much we can see, how we would log things, if we need cameras/binoculars, etc. So go to game, see what you can [or can't] do and report back your findings." Hmmm.... what “we” are looking for.... Would these guys \/ be the “we” who are looking for how much “we” can see? “Baseball Operations President of Baseball Operations and General Manager | Jeff Luhnow Special Assistant to the General Manager | Craig Biggio Special Assistant to the General Manager | Enos Cabell Special Assistant to the General Manager | Roger Clemens Special Assistant to the General Manager, Player Personnel | Kevin Goldstein” I guess Clemens could always say they were gathering this information for his wife.

From the ESPN article:
“The 2017 plans relayed by Goldstein involved a pro scouting department that since has been gutted, with the Astros' analytics-scouting balance since then tilting to the side of analytics "99 to 1," according to a person familiar with the team's resources. Much of the Astros' scouting work today, sources said, involves cameras and video.”
Do you think some of those scouts who got canned might have some info to share with the MLB investigators? Things could get a bit dicey for Luhnow and the geek squad in the analytics department.

Whether or not he’ll wash his hands is another story. Note: I’m not actually comparing the Astros to Jesus so calm down.
