I'm wondering what the cost of Jeff McNeil is? I think we need some better infielder depth. A super Utility guy like McNeil could go along way. Just food for thought You're just suggesting that cause Díaz forgot to tie his shoelacesActually I'm suggesting that cuz Goodrum doesn't look so good. Diaz may or may not be better but isn't looking so hot at the moment. Then what? A guy like McNeil would cover all the spots in the Infield and COF spots if needed and has a decent bat who could spell bye-bye to either Duaz or Goodrum in a heart beat. And Dave us incase of an Injury

And more important needs have been put to bed

They're not gonna upgrade Odorizzi either I'm willing to bet. The point of the two-year deal was cause they know McCullers can't be depended on It's becoming a spectacle in duality how many millions this front office throws at pitching while the position players don't get long extensions

But but but Correa gets hurt, we don’t want to take risks! (Here’s a truckload of cash, Lance.)

They haven't given pitchers any long extensions either though.

They haven't given pitchers any long extensions either though. No one has by my memory (which could be failing). I can't think of anyone outside Cole and Strasburg that's been given a mega-deal recently

Kind of my point. Ray to my understanding got a 5-year deal, which was the length of McCullers' extension. Click isn't signing pitchers to long-term deals, but the other GMs aren't either

There's several good, young hitters in MLB who've been locked in to long-term contracts with their clubs recently. But Click hasn't done that with our two top, young hitters, Álvarez and Tucker

Even Bagwell ended up not being worth his deal at the time.

I can see not extending Yordan yet and seeing how his knees do. But I think they need to try and lock up Tucker soon. Javier and Luis Garcia as well.

Isn't it kind of a new fad, this extending players in their first couple years of ML service time?

Isn't it kind of a new fad, this extending players in their first couple years of ML service time? It's not new by itself. We've seen extensions for young players before (take that pothead Jon Singleton for example). It's new doing it for these ultra long mega deals.

Maybe it's just new for fans to be thinking they're the GM and know who to extend and when. ETA: This post makes it look like I was talking about you know-it-alls, but I wasn't really. It's become ubiquitous in every baseball circle.

I say move ODI in a package some where let Javier start. See if we can get a Jeff McNeil type player via trade and look for a way away from Baez.

Right? And you stood alone constantly defending him against all the naysayers. Every post that you squashed them with, you need to repost....I lost count how many you did....Oh, they're going to be sorry..let them eat crow!!!

With lies and insults? I have never defended this Ohtani guy, ever anywhere. Was just evaluating what I have read here. Of course you lost count. It is 1 post where I even mentioned this. Next is the number 2, which is this post. You need re complete 2nd grade and figure out basic arithmetic.

Random MiLB update: Logan Cerny, who get traded Garrett Stubbs for, has three home runs already in 10 games.

So, this is how you treat new posters? Yeah, pretty much. At least they did with me when I first arrived. Teasing a new poster is pretty much standard operating procedure. Gives them a chance to see if the new guy has a sense of humor or if he's a pissy little *****. How do you reckon you did on your first test?

So Royschick AKA Yessi AKA my wife, got to meet Dusty Baker at a lunch thing today. I'm not a big fan of his managing but there's no doubt that he's a baseball icon. A couple takeaways from Dusty: He is completely infatuated with Altuve. Altuve is supposedly one of the nicest and most Christian-driven men he's ever known. He said that it breaks his heart everytime ppl boo Jose when they don't know the whole story. Two, apparently Bregman loves getting the boos and likes to be the first on the field on the road games. Which sounds about right.
