As the teams are now, the Astros can hang with the Yankees. If the Yankees add Benintendi or Bell, I’d say no. Adding Castillo is a future move that adds very little for this season. Need more fire power/depth.... Starting to be concerned about Brantley shoulder...Astros might have to be a top bidder for Benintendi...

Got me worried.

any deal for Castillo would mean goodbye to Hunter Brown I just don’t know what this would accomplish. They're probably concerned JV will exercise his player option at season's end. I'm rooting for Toronto to crash and burn in the standings. It'll lessen the likelihood he'll want to play there

I'm not sure why there aren't any reports connecting us to position players. Management being anal about defense may have something to do with it

Nats are offering Soto for trades now that he declined something like $440M extension. For 15 years. Crazy. Kind of not surprised he turned it down. That's less than $30 million per year, and he's one of the five best players on the planet. If he stays healthy and doesn't fall off, he's getting half a billion as a free agent (not to mention he doesn't have to stay in Washington for a decade and a half).

Put this under things that make you go what............... Garcia to the Diamondbacks for Christian Walker and Joe Mantiply Garcia is a #3 or even a #2 on most teams, and has four years of control left. Mantiply is having a good year but I'm not sold on him long-term, but he does have a ton of control left. Walker I like a lot and he has a couple years of control left. Definitely wouldn't do Garcia for them, but I'd do Urquidy and a sweetener. Maybe some international cash and/or a decent prospect. Another option might be Mark Melancon if they refuse on Mantiply; some of his numbers indicate he could be due some positive regression, and they might be looking to move his contract.

Heard about this from a relative in Phoenix. He was asking about Garcia and my thoughts on him. Turns out he heard about it on a local sports station. Dude said he had heard there were talks going on and I had never heard of either of those guys.

I would love to get Whit Merrifield from the Royals. Merrifield is a douche and talked sh*t about Altuve cheating him out of a SS award in 2017. He also has no power.

I would love to get Whit Merrifield from the Royals. It's tough to be optimistic about our bench at the moment. Merrifield would be an upgrade there – experienced veteran who can deliver a knock in a pinch

Does anyone even know why the Nats are shopping Soto? Soto either does not want to resign with the Nats or he thinks he can get more than 440 million on his next deal.

Does anyone even know why the Nats are shopping Soto? He would not agree with the 440 million offer. He has 2 years of arb left.

As a board, we do not need to let vodoo know that Soto is on the block.

If you know you can't keep him, why wait? The longer he is with you the greater the chances of him getting hurt. More club control means more trade value.

But do they wait until the off-season? I'm sure it will depend on what kind of offers they get. You can be sure that 2+ years of Soto at a cheap financial cost is going to require them getting a huge package in return. TIWSS
