I hope Dusty isn't trying to get more money than he's worth... He was gifted a WS ring already. He came into a circus/shitshow. The team played for him.... He deserves to get paid... Baker>>Hinch

JV chances on exercising the $25M option? I put it at 5%. Would you take the over or under on that. Zero chance he stays for the 25 million. I do see us giving him a fat 2 year deal.

Man I feel like I'm flip-flopping. I hope JV stays, but the Astros could also do a lot in FA with that money as well... So long as the money is spent, it's a win-win situation....

I sure hope Click comes back. I think it's the perfect combo, to have a conservative GM and a somewhat aggressive owner. Wise deals to be made.

On paper: Astros 2018 and 2019 Astros > Astros 2021 and 2022. Results: Astros 2021 and Astros 2022 > Astros 2018 and Astros 2019 Therefore: Dusty > Hinch

It occurred to me that there is a way to leverage our current situation to our advantage. If the new CBA is set up so that the penalties increase as the number of years over the penalty limits increase, then exceeding the limits for one year is not a debilitating thing. So if we were to sign Verlander to a big one year deal and then turn around and sign Abreu to a big one year deal the impact would be felt but would be off set by the eventual increase in revenue awarded to the playoff/championship teams. Abreu might be receptive because he has never sniffed a title, Verlander would love to have an excuse to stay here, and who knows who else might consider taking a slightly less than market deal to have a chance to get a championship ring. After all having more money is just a way to keep score after a certain amount.
Whoever signs on as the GM has to figure out a way to leverage this "dynasty" label.

A lot of that is true, but he was also fortunate to be given such a good team. On paper: Astros 2018 and 2019 Astros > Astros 2021 and 2022. Results: Astros 2021 and Astros 2022 > Astros 2018 and Astros 2019 Therefore: Dusty > Hinch Dusty made me crazy multiple times over the past few years. The largest part of the reason was I was sure that he was going to keep us from winning another title. Well he tried but they won and a big part of the reason was his unwavering belief in players and his genuine love of the game. So now that my lust for another championship has been sated I am all for Dusty having another run at it. If he and Click can kiss and make up then the Astros will be better off for it in 2023.

Our first priority should be extending King Tucker. I hope we can sign Tucker to an extension. If we can’t, he will be eligible for free agency in 2026. The Astros used their #1 and #2 picks in the 2022 Rule 4 draft on outfielders Gilbert and Melton. They both have a MLB ETA of 2025. I’m wondering if there are doubts in the front office as to the team’s chances of extending Tucker. There are always doubts. Pay up, Crane.

The sooner everyone accepts it, the sooner we can grieve and move forward. Unlike Correa though I do think there's a chance that Crane goes big for him, and a chance JV likes it here enough to take a somewhat lesser deal to stay. But he's not taking a one-year, $25 million deal by picking up his option.

I think if they wanted to be Astros, it wouldn't be outside the possibility Rizzo would agree to a 2-year deal, and Joc to a 1-year. Rizzo's Brantley's age when we extended him for 2 years, and Joc likes being a journeyman

I think Alex and Altuve love baseball too much to not give maximum effort. That's why they play hurt so much and pull the ball when their legs get tired. I'm afraid of the tendency guys might copy what Yuli did this year. Saving the tank for the postseason. I like to keep a positive attitude, but I'm concerned about our run-production during the regular next season

Unfortunately, I think Click's going to announce that he's moving on from the Astros I hope Click stays, but wouldn’t blame him if he leaves. It must be difficult for a GM when he has to get the manager’s approval to make a trade, otherwise the manager will go to the owner and get the trade vetoed. Not a good situation.
