I’m looking at today’s lineup. Dubon playing second and batting 8th followed by Maldonado. I hope we don’t see much of that in the regular season.

Nobody likes my Will Wagner idea, eh? He's already 24 years old and has played all four infield positions:
2023 ST: .385/.429/.539 Minor Leagues: .269/.377/.403
I don't expect him to be great, but I think this injury opens up an unexpected chance to give him a small look.

Maldonado looked a little worse than usual in his first game back from WBC today.
Ronal Blanco looked good again. Jose Abreu with a couple doubles.

Yanier Diaz starting in LF today. Dirden in CF. Pena batting first with Bregman batting second. I’m wondering if this will be the #1 and #2 in the batting order while Altuve is out. I’m thinking it will be Pena at #1 and either Bregman or Brantley at #2. Altuve's teammates wanted him to bat first, even though he and Dusty preferred he bat lower in the order. Dusty should let Altuve choose who bats leadoff while he's sidelined

I'd like to see Tucker bat leadoff with Brantley 2nd. Think of all the SB opportunities Tucker would get, and he could be like Springer (and Altuve) with those leadoff HRs.
I know he's a good RBI guy as well, but I feel like could get more out of his legs.
Tucker RF Brantley/Dirden LF Yordan DH Bregman 3B Abreu 1B Pena SS Hensley 2B Diaz/Lee C Chas CF

Does anybody think we'll see improvement in Pena's BB/K this year? That's really his only flaw.

Does anybody think we'll see improvement in Pena's BB/K this year? That's really his only flaw. As he settles in I think you'll see the walk rate rise. I wouldn't expect a huge improvement in strikeout rate, but it wasn't terrible last year anyway at 24.2% If he could get up to 7-8% walks and shave the K rate down a few points he'll be great.

I know this will never happen, but if the Marlins don’t add Jose Iglesias to their roster (he signed a minor league deal with them) and he exercises his opt out on Saturday, would you sign him and show Dunon the door?

To further elaborate, Iglesias has always been a good defender and can hit comparably or better than Dubón. Plus, he could be a valuable addition to the already existing veteran leaders on the team.

Once Altuve returns, a backup infielder duo of Hensley and Iglesias would be an upgrade from Hensley and Dubon.

But we have all been Astros fans long enough to know they would go with Iglesias and Dubon instead of Iglesias and Hensley I think its all moot anyway because surely the Marlins will add Iglesias to their 40-man roster before Saturday. Maybe Brown can work a deal with the Marlins though.

Abreu 1B Dirden LF Hensley 2B Chas CF Maldonado C I know what the arguments against it would be, but I'd bat Hensley leadoff. His calling card is his bat over his glove, and the most notable thing about him at the plate is discipline and drawing walks. Even in ST this year, he's only hitting .242, but look at that .390 OBP. He came up last year and looked unfazed. Heck they even played him in the post-season as a rookie and he posted a decent .333 OBP in that situation. He's not a kid either, turning 27 in a few days. Why not give him the vote of confidence and see if he can run with it?

I'll probly go into the season expecting Dubón and Meyers to get starts in April. And be pleasantly surprised if Hensley and Dirden get at-bats early on
