I just mentioned yesterday how Bregman leads the team in getting thrown out running the bases. Of course here there was an extenuating circumstance, but still Bregman should have had more situational awareness there.

For a lefty specialist, if you want to call him that his pitches don't really have much movement. Hinch shy's away from using him. How many left handed hitters have reached first by other means against him. Well, he hasn't issued a walk to LHH in those 20 PAs and he has struck out 4. WHIP of 0.32 over this very limited sample of 20 hitters. I know Sipp isn't Doc Gooden but I do think he is throwing his best pitches since 2015 and is trying to make a case for staying in MLB past this season. Had Harris throw 15 or more pitches the previous inning, I'd have been fine seeing Sipp starting the 8th. I must have Sipp bias. |
