Brianna's silliness takes away from the game. Let her go do her plugs on the Astros website. She acts like she thinks people really give a damn what she has to say. At least we don’t have to listen to Brianna for the whole game. That ol gal who is in the booth for ESPN is horrible. Water boarding can’t be worse than being forced to listen to her for 9 innings. Nothing was worse than that Waldman lady for the Yankees lose it over the return of Clemens to the Bronx.

Like the avatar change, Billy D,one of the best gamers for the Stros, my wife had a crush on him. As for Jessica she tries to break the game down too much on an elementary level going into much detail that is not necessary. Thanks. Billy Doran is one of my favorite Houston players ever. Gutsy player. Didn’t mind getting dirty. Didn’t say much. Led by example.

I’m sure you will remember it. I saw him make a play just like this one in a regular season game I attended. I didn't realize that was Doran. It's good he got a ring in 1990 He played with Hatcher? The Astros traded Bill Doran to the Reds the same day they traded Larry Andersen to the Red Sox

A story I have for a game I attended in Philly with Scotty pitching that day. The Stros were warming up down the third base line, my wife says I have to get down to get his autograph. I said they attendant is not letting anyone down in that section without a ticket, she was able to weasel her way down. To her dismay Billy in game day mode said to her he doesn't give autographs right before the game in his preparation. She was depressed to say the least, but Jose Cruz comes over to her and gives his with no problem saying where do you want to sign, pre game didn't bother him at all. Pushing her luck she went down by the pen where Scotty was warming up and ask him to pose for a picture. I told her he is never going to pose right before a game. She called his name above the pen point with her camera that she wanted a picture, joking he pointed to himself and said to her you want a picture of me and he actually posed for one. Talk about pre game jitters, I posted a link to that game below Stros won, but an off day with his splitter. In that day and age Anderson finished the game for the last three, something you don't see now. www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/PHI/PHI198707050.shtml

She acts like she thinks people really give a damn what she has to say. That's not any different from how you act though. You could probly learn a thing or two from her in fact

Thanks for sharing the Doran video and that box score from the 1987 HOU-PHI game. Looking at that box score, it's amazing how much baserunning the Astros did then. Not only did they steal 3 bases that game, but they forced the Phillies to make throwing errors that allowed runners to advance even more. The Astros will probably not even steal 90 bases this year and I won't be surprised if the total is under 70.
Here is an uploaded game I found recently from the 1991 season. The starting pitchers were Jeff Juden for the Astros and Steve Avery for the Braves. I won't say how the game turns out, but I did like seeing some players who don't have many ABs preserved on video -- or at least, publicly available video. Luis Gonzalez, Casey Candaele, Andujar Cedeno, Biggio while he was still a catcher, a young Bagwell, Ken Caminiti... they are all in this game.

It was Biggio’s first full year in the majors. After the players got finished warming up pregame Biggio was standing on the field near our seats. My son asked him for his autograph and Biggio just ignored him. To this day my son has no use for Biggio.

But I can see how a snub of a favorite player can leave a lasting impression on a young fan.

I think what galls my son about that incident is that Biggio was close enough that my son could almost reach and touch him and my son asked several times nicely...called the kid (Biggio was just a kid then) “Mr Biggio,” and Biggio wouldn’t even acknowledge him. I thought it was arrogant and classless too.
