Updates:
J.P. France had a setback in his rehab, no timetable on his return. It's a shoulder thing. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't pitch again this year.
Jake Bloss has only minor inflammation. Could pitch again in a week or two.
Caratini out another three weeks at least. Unlikely he's back before the All-Star break.

I also saw that Garcia through 30+ pitches and got up to 92mph recently. What a boost we could have after the all-star break if Garcia and Lance could get back and be effective... Still need to add a veteran reliever and starter, imo.

We should care though. Both of those guys have the potential to help us without losing prospects if they can be healthy for a while and be effective.
I think we all agree that Lance can be effective (for the most part) if he stays healthy, and Whitley has the potential to provide some bullpen help. If nothing else, we have to believe he would be better than the escalator of crappy back-end relievers we've been trying to use.
Worst case scenario, they suck and/or get hurt but they didn't cost us any extra money or prospects.

He's a good receiver and caller with good plate discipline and decent bat to ball skills as a lefty. If he had more power and was younger he'd be a well-known prospect. No reason he can't be a good backup for Yainer and a solid pinch hit guy for years to come.

I would argue that LMJ already lived up to this potential with his postseason success for us.

If it's a choice between McCullers who hasn't faced ML hitters in a long time, versus Bauer who hasn't faced ML hitters in a long time, we're likely screwed either way

Luis Garcia is throwing 93-94 MPH at the Florida complex. Could be back by the end of July.

Hunter Brown's 4-0 with a 0.36 ERA in his last 4 starts. Legit candidate for AL Pitcher of the Month

But in reality , the Astros would have to give up their best prospects to get VG. Therefore, I would pass

Ash what could the Astros actually afford to give the Blue Jays for two years of VG. Last names can’t be Melton or Matthews.
