Would these teams be most interested in Tucker? Phillies, Orioles, Cubs, Dodgers and Red Sox? Out of those teams I'd prefer him to go to Boston.

It is going to be interesting how this season ends between the NY teams, that is where the battle Soto will be going. Since all of a sudden how the Mets have become relevant, I could see their owner going into a money battle with the Yankees, even though the Polar Bear is a free agent.

Just last season the money he blew off unloading JV and Max. The thing is it looks like Soto loves playing in Yankee Stadium, but how far will Steinbrenner Jr. bend.

There is a 0.0% chance they trade Tucker. Crane wants to compete, and give the appearance of competing, every year. Trading a beloved star, even if smart, is just not happening.
I think there are enough options out there for 3B that they won't go crazy for Bregman. If he'll take $25 per year for six years, I think he stays. If he wants more, I think they let him leave like Springer and Correa and Cole etc.
I think they should let Bregman and JV go. That's about $40 million. Once the deadweight + Framber comes off the books at this time next year, you can easily sign Tucker to a big extension. Or, heck, Vlad jr. will be a free agent then, if Tucker wants something preposterous.

I think his contract demands will be more in line with what Crane would be apt to offer, 5 year/$150M Therefore, I think Bregman is more likely to be re-signed. Now, who is the better player: Tucker. But I think he gets a 8 year/300M deal or more. No way Crane pays that. You’re right, as we know, Crane will not trade Tucker. He will go for it 2025 and Tucker will be playing for another team the following season.

If they know they will not resign him, I would do that deal. Painter is an absolute monster if he gets past the health problems. I like Crawford but I might like Starlyn Caba even better and he should be ready by the time Pena's done, if not sooner. I just can't see Crane ever making a move that is that clearly future-focused. It would be a significant blow to 2025 and the PR of it with the casuals would be severe. Of course in reality when Tucker was healthy the team was trash, when he was out they came roaring back, and he didn't do anything in the two playoff games, so you could make the argument we might not even really lose anything in the end by dealing him.

My hope: Re-sign Bregman to 5 year deal Trade Tucker and Valdez for a major haul, including some top end major league prospects. Bundle Pressly into either a Tucker or Valdez trade deal (Crow is about to be eaten) Sign Kikuchi to a 3 year deal/$45M deal See if Verlander will take a 1 year $10M deal with performance incentives. Sign Walker or Goldschmidt Sign two mid price relievers Get a veteran OF on 1 year deal with 2nd year team option Replace current hitting coaches

But I doubt it. No way Kikuchi accepts just $15 million per year. He got $12 million a year for three years when leaving Seattle with a 4.93 career ERA. After the run he had post trade, he'll get $20 million a year. I wouldn't be shocked to see even higher honestly. I'm not sure I see the benefit of trading Pressly unless we get serious value for him. He was still a solid setup man. If we trade him and someone eats half his contract, we'll then just have to take that savings and...sign a solid setup man. But if they take his whole salary we won't get much for him. It's one year and he's not garbage, might as well ride it out IMO. Goldschmidt will be the cheaper option, so I feel like that's more realistic. Walker would be a nice get though. Winker feels like a perfect fit. Strong platoon corner OF who shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

You might be right but I would be surprised if he was offered much more than $14-15 a year just because he had one good half a season. And if he is more expensive than that, we don't need him. I like the guy and think we should bring him back, but I'm not a fan of giving someone with his history more than $50 million based off of a couple good months.

Look at what we gave up to get him before he broke out. He was solid a solid #3 in 2023. He's a lefty with elite stuff and elite strikeout rates who finally broke out into elite performance after nothing more than mixing his pitches better. Anything less than $20 per year for three years would be utterly shocking IMO. This kind of sounds a lot like what people, Astros front office included, said about Morton after 2017. Really don't want to see another great starter go to some other team because we don't want to pay him as much as we're paying McCullers to sit on the bench and shoot HEB commercials.

That was eight years ago. Inflation is a very really thing in baseball contracts. Like you just posted, the QO amount is over $21 million. That's up about $4 million just over the last eight years. Morton was also a year older at the time. And the extra wild cards mean more clubs are expecting to compete, driving more bidding wars, especially for a guy like Kikuchi who will not be getting a massive deal. IMO there is just no way he gets less than three years and $18-20 million per.

Braves won 89 games (Astros 88) this year and made the playoffs, and are just one year removed from winning 104 games on the back of baseball's best offense that scored almost 950 runs. Braves ownership said "not good enough" and fired all their hitting coaches. But Cintron has a lifetime deal or something I guess.

We're seeing younger guys being given a chance earlier than we used to. We'll see what happens. I'm in the explore Framber/Tucker trade scenarios group just to see what might be possible. If they were to end up trading Framber, they definitely need to sign a pitcher like Kikuchi.
