Why do you make fatalistic statements like this? You don't know what the future holds. This is how you get yourself into trouble making comments about ballplayers
right before they start knocking the cover off the ball There's no point. He is already wrong with that statement to begin with. Stassi, in his first full year, had a better year offensively than Maldonado ever has if you go by OPS+ or weighted runs created (a stat even he has said he respects). So, because YOU gave Stassi a higher rating than Maldonado or McCann, I'm wrong. AJ apparently agrees with me as do most posters who have commented on the subject. Of course, old bear jumps in on the side of anyone who disagrees with me. I get a good laugh because he never posts an original thought.  Stassi is NOT in his first year.......He has been up and down since 2013. He had one good offensive stretch.....mostly against lefties...at the beginning of this season. Other than that, he has been pathetic. The only reason he made the roster out of Spring Training was because he was out of options and we didn't have another catcher who was ready to backup McCann. Since it became evident that Stassi could not handle the everyday job, Luhnow got Maldonado from the Angels and that was a very wise move. Re-signing him would also be wise. No matter how much you scream and push Stassi, he still sucks and Maldonado is a much better option. If Stubbs shows he's ready in Spring Training next Spring, Stassi is history. |

I have never said Maldonado is a good hitter, but, he has been more productive since he has been here than Stassi. The only time Stassi hits is against mediocre left-handed pitchers. C. It is widely known that Verlander was uncomfortable with Stassi. It was evident by some of the meetings on the mound and the reaction of Verlander to the way Stassi called a game. McCullers was also unhappy with him. Apparently, Hinch thinks Maldonado and McCann are both better than Stassi since both are on the roster and Stassi was left off YOU are the only one here who keeps blasting Maldonado and praising Stassi, which proves my point about you being terrible at evaluating talent, especially catching.  I thought you girls had broken up. |
