Man...poor ol' Bart Ennis got fired from ATTSN. He seemed like a good dude. That just means more Julia. Ennis did a good job. Julia is fine when she sticks to interviews. She gets on my nerves with her damn silliness and talking about being cold all the time. In any case, if they want to do TV viewers a favor, keep that silly airhead, Brianna, out of the booth during games.

in all fairness to Jeff if we're being critical, Phillips and Santana were dealt for Gomez. Hader was dealt for Fiers Let me redirect: I really, really dislike Fiers bc of Hader. Hader for Fiers isn't much better.

I forget the poster that said the biggest mistake of the Gomez trade was losing Hader. Boy was he right I said at the time the trade went down that I felt like when all was said and done the one player we would most regret trading away would be Hader. Most thought Phillips was the big loss in the deal, if I recall correctly. Well before Houston traded Hader I read an article in which some scout was quoted as saying that watching Hader pitch brought to mind Chris Sale. That got my attention. I followed him closely while he was in the Astros farm system. Made me sick when they traded him away. No way of going back and looking at it but I was right there in the bitching box with you on losing him.

Man I hope JV slices them up.

Sure, losing Hader sucked, but we ended up with 2017 without mortgaging the farm. It’s an overall win.

Hader isn’t as big a loss as J.D. Martinez

I see where Hinch will announce the ALCS roster on Friday. Here is what I think we will see: Cole Verlander Keuchel Morton McCullers McHugh Smith Pressley Osuna Sipp James McCann Maldanado Gattis Gurriel Altuve Correa Bregman Springer Reddick Gonzalez White Marisnick Kemp Straw Rondón instead of Straw .. wouldn't be surprised if this gets debated depending how the series turns outI hope I am proven wrong, but if they had to carry 12 pitchers, I would rather have seen Gattis left off the roster and Straw included on it. I think it was a mistake leaving Straw off the roster.

Anyone else getting pre-game jitters? Man I hope JV slices them up. I’m actually feeling pretty calm about tonight’s game and the series with Boston. I think it is going to be a great series. Two good teams who, I believe have mutual respect for each other and play the game hard.

I think it was a mistake leaving Straw off the roster. I'm inclined to agree. Championships always have OF-basehit-scoring-runner from second late-inning situations (Game 5 last year). If someone's out at the plate, everyone's gonna point to that

Gomez, Fiers and Giles were all desperate trades Luhnow made around the same time that had a lot to do with the club being competitive sooner than anticipated, but ownership wasn't yet committed to raising payroll. Jeff made some mistakes but I think he's learned from them

There was an interesting (and civil) back-and-forth between an Astros fan site and a BoSox fan site at www.crawfishboxes.com/2018/10/13/17972582/beyond-enemy-lines-q-a-with-overthemonsterexcerpt: "6.) Who would you define as the X-Factors in this series?
I think there are three for the Red Sox. The most obviously one is Price. On talent alone, the top two Red Sox pitchers have the talent to at least keep close to Verlander and Cole. I have faith in Sale being that guy, but Price is a wildcard at best, and at this point you can’t count on him in the postseason until he shows it. If he does pitch up to his potential, though, it’s a massive swing in the Red Sox favor. The second would be Rafael Devers. With three of Houston’s four starters being right-handed, I’d expect Devers to get most of the starts in this series. He’s been up-and-down all year, but if he plays up to this potential it really lengthens the lineup. Finally, Matt Barnes is going to be huge. I’m one of Barnes’ biggest defenders, but he’s dealt with injuries and inconsistency in the second half. Before that, though, he was one of the AL’s better relievers and he has the potential to be a shutdown, late-inning arm. The bullpen is much less of a concern if Barnes can get back to being that guy, particularly against the Astros’ righty-heavy lineup."

51 degrees in Boston. Look for a low scoring game.

If the Dodgers lose the series against the Brewers, does Dave Roberts get canned?

If the Dodgers lose the series against the Brewers, does Dave Roberts get canned? IDK. He might. I wasn’t impressed with his managerial skills in the 2017 WS.

One question is, can Sale continue pitching like he has lately, with excellent numbers. Astros got to him last post season. Can they do it again?

Who will be our team MVP this series? My money is on Verlander with Bregman running a close 2nd.

FINALLY, Hinch wises up and takes out Harris. I figured Rondon would be on the roster and with the 12th pitcher he added Smith as well.
