The Mariners put Marco Gonzalez on the mound this afternoon (3pm Houston time) against Charlie Morton.
We know Charlie's solid, and Gonzalez has struggled mightily at the big league level (think: worse than 2016-17 Tony Sipp, but for more innings per game). But the Astros will need to be vigilant and not let Gonzalez look like the second coming of Cy Young.
This is a good chance to win a series after tough games against the Twins and Rangers. Go Stros!

If the Astros happen to score a lot again, I hope people like Peacock and Giles get some work. They need to practice getting easier outs.

Do they still broadcast the games over regular AM radio in Houston?

from mlb.com:
"By posting 11 strikeouts Tuesday night, Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. gave Houston its seventh double-digit strikeout total of the season, the most in MLB history through the first 18 games. The 1966 Cleveland Indians and 1973 California Angels did it six times in the first 18 games of those seasons."
This really does look like one of the Astros' best pitching staffs... up there with 1980/81, 1986, and 1998.

We need to see that offense carry over from last night. Uncle Charlie is due for a less than amazing start as well.

Looking for some offense today and some solid bullpen work. Then catch a flight to Chicago to pay back the White Sox. Weather looks cool but the series should be completed.

Springer (RF) Altuve (2B) Correa (SS) Gattis (DH) Bregman (3B) Gonzalez (1B) Reddick (LF) Stassi (C) Marisnick (CF) Morton (P)
Interesting vote of confidence in Gattis.... Everybody's current favorite OFer back in center.

Giles has been sidelined b/c of back injuries....He needs to do less squatting, or at least wear a weightlifting belt.

What will happen is that Jake will stumble into a HR or make a sliding catch today and everyone except me will name him the new Ted Williams and he will be back into the managers good graces.

What will happen is that Jake will stumble into a HR or make a sliding catch today and everyone except me will name him the new Ted Williams and he will be back into the managers good graces. You don't give him enough credit for his overall very good year last year. The offensive production was likely a fluke, but the defense and running is not. The problem is that he shouldn't be getting this much playing time.

The problem is that you never see the good running and defense and he IS in the starting line up all the time.

Terrible lineup.......Gattis batting cleanup...Marisnick also playing today. Why is Gurriel not playing? Sometimes I think AJ pulls these lineups out of his cap.

Man I didn't even realize Yuli wasn't in the lineup at first glance. He is hitting the ball the hardest so it makes sense he would need a day off.
The clipboard hath spoken!

Hinch is banking on Jake's splits against lefties to show up but it ain't happenin. TG all the starters in Chicago will be righties
