90-49 10.5 game lead in the West 1st place overall On pace for 105 Wins
Greinke vs. Lyles
We better beat the piss out of Lyles. Altuve, how about you start driving in some runs. I've been sick the last few days and I feel bitchy. Don't make me bitch, Jose. Or at least, not more than normal.

Whatever it takes to get a comfortable ten run lead. I want a laugher followed by 34 more laughers. I'm really tired of the stress.

I love it when we don't swing at pitches out of the strike zone. But I really do wonder why we take so many first pitches over the heart of the plate. I sometimes wonder if the decision to swing or not is made before we even get in the batters box rather than in reaction to the pitch.

I guess I'm old school and expect them to be able to shrink or expand the swing zone without completely ignoring the pitch.

No doubt in my mind that Altuve decides to swing at the first pitch before getting into the box. I can]t count how many DP's the little dumbass has grounded into by doing that.

We knew Correa would take a first pitch center-cut fastball. In fact, he would stand and take two strikes and then look at the umpire.....Normally, he either struck out on a pitch out of the zone or took a third called strike after doing that.

I don't think they get the whole day off. I can't imagine Alvarez not getting at least one pinch hit opportunity or Tucker not getting a pinch run opportunity. Altuve might get the whole night off unless it's a close game.
We at least know Greinke like the mound in Milwaukee.

A day off is not going to change who Altuve is as a hitter. 10 years from now, he will still be lunging across the dish trying to hit sliders in the dirt. It's an Astros 2B rule. Altuve will swing at anything he thinks he can reach. That’s why I say that if I were an opposing pitcher I would never throw him a ball within 4” of the strike zone in any direction until the count goes to 3 balls. The guy has won an MVP and multiple batting titles with that approach. You are correct. 10 years from now he will still be lunging across the dish trying to hit sliders in the dirt and more often than not trying to pull them past the third baseman.

Seems like we are facing a lot of former Astros farmhand SPs lately. Thornton in Toronto. Now Houser and Lyles in Milwaukee.

The difference is before he would make much more contact than he does now. I think he has traded some contact for more power. A part of me feels like Altuve purposely goes after pitches out of the zone to force the pitcher to throw over the plate if he connects on them. Setting himself up for a later AB. I noticed he seems to hit better as the game goes on than in the first inning.
