sometimes I think these head-scratching lineups from Hinch are not really his fault. What probably happens is that Luhnow sits down with him and says: I want to see how the following players do over X number of plate appearances. Because he feels he needs a certain sample size to make a sabermetrically-sound decision. So, even when Hinch doubts a player's ability, he knows that the speediest way to get that guy off the active roster is to meet Luhnow's PA quota quickly... thus these guys get starts. that's why you have to disregard the numbers sometimes. Subbing-out Reddick probly dilutes the chemistry of the lineup and it's no more complicated than that

Hinch should get the L instead of Cole. For starting Jake instead of Josh But Jake was GOOD last year! (Supposedly)

Is this how the offense is going to be? Feast on bad pitchers and do nothing against lefties?

I wonder who started running first - Gurriel or the guy at first. I suspect it was the latter, and that Gurriel only ran (and had to break late) when he saw the other guy behind him. probably wasn't his idea.

Stassi wasn't going to do anything anyway, the pitcher had him where he wanted him.

Gattis had a pitch to drive out of the park and just looked at it -- as normal.

The positive to take away from this game is that the Astros pitching absolutely can corral the Angels offense.
Once Luhnow allows Hinch to remove the cancers that are festering inside the offense, it will be at a level to win games like this. Just imagine if Reddick and White had started the game instead of Marisnick and Gattis.

That was an appropriate ending to the Astros offense’s 9 inning cluster.

Also, Middleton is almost certainly unavailable for tomorrow's game, so that puts a lot of pressure on Ohtani and the Angels bullpen.
