Unfortunately, I don't expect Bregman to win it. It's undeniable that Mike Trout is an outstanding player. Also, it will be next to impossible to get around the sympathy aspect of the sudden death of their teammate. That will redound to Trout's favor, although no one will say it out loud. He died of Drugs and whatever. Not some Tragic Accident! I will call BS to any writer that plays that Hand. Look it was sad it happened MAYBE his teammates should have seen the symptoms and step in but they are all afraid to say anything. Union against the Players and then its against the Owners. They created this mess. This wasn't a one time Use and it Killed him this was someone who had been using for a while. Drug overdoses happen every Day- The world is trying to blame the Drug Companies and everything but the person putting the crap in their body.

Bregman had a great season, but Trout is like Mike Schmidt. This discussion reminds me of the '86 MVP debate with Glenn Davis a little bit Not to say Davis = Bregman .. no effing way

Bregman now has 40 home runs and his OPS is over 1.000. He deserves the MVP based on what he means to the team. I don't understand why Trout's stats should automatically give him the MVP and I sure as hell don't think a teammate overdosing on drugs should get him sentimental votes. I hate that a guy died like that but he did it to himself and Trout should not get MVP votes because of it.
I am afraid that I will never share the definition of valuable that most here seem to follow. The Angels suck and having Trout was not "valuable" to them or anyone else. All it meant is he has great individual stats. I will always think number of games played needs to be considered and Trout never plays a full season.

At the very least we can be assured Bregman will have back2back MVP-caliber seasons. The ballclub hasn't had that since Altuve two seasons ago Before that it was Bagwell 19 years ago

I'll take a Bregman WS MVP award over the 2019 AL MVP award anyways.

Don't look now but Bregman is actually only .1 behind Trout in WAR now. If he can pass Trout in WAR, with everything else considered, I think he might actually do this. Again, WAR isn't the only thing by far, but the recent voting results the last few years have put a huge amount of value on it. Just going back the last 3 years, all 6 of the MVP winners led their respective league in WAR.

If he gets his average over .300 I think that will do it. 40 home runs, 110 runs batted in and an OPS over 1.000 should be enough by itself.

^^^ You know writers are a fickle bunch. Bregman may just get votes on that idea alone. Having a Team get all three awards would be a Milestone in MLB History

He should get High consideration as half his team was out for a good part of the year. He plug in Players left and right and made the right call no matter how much we bitched about his ClipBoard in game day threads

Trout is arguably the best of his generation. To suggest the writers would give him the MVP cause of what happened to the team kind of insults that Can you imagine if Trout did play a team on the East Coast. With the majority of Baseball fans not tuned into the West Coast time period. He spends most of his winter time in NJ, I really never thought he would extend in LA. He could have gotten the same amount and probably more playing out his contract and then sign with the Phillies. He must like it where he is to finish his career.
